hub part identification

On the web page below is the parts lists and exploded parts diagram for the Warn 5 on 4.5" kit.

http://www.stu-offroad.com/hubconv/hub-1.htm

I have attached a photo and I am trying to determine what these parts are.

Is the splined washer in the photo below part # 3 in the above diagram? (spindle washer) There were two in my hub kit.

What is the c-clip looking part in the photo below? There were two of them in the kit also.

That small brass cylinder (next to the needle nose pliers)? There was one of them in the kit.

Last question: Referencing the exploded diagram, is part #2 (axle retainer) already installed in part #1? (I could not find any of these in the kit.

Stu,
After you get the nut torqued down to 125-150 pounds, the splined washer goes on the axle shaft. The c-clip then goes in a slot next to the axle splines to hold the axle out. You have to pull on the axle or maybe pry at the u-joint ears to expose the slot the clip goes into. The axle tries to suck itself into the diff.
Then the hub goes on.
That little splined washer will laugh at you as you put it on, but on it will go.

The little brass thing? I don't have a clue but it doesn't go in the assembly.
Hope this helps,
Ron

Oh yeah, the picture sucks.

Ron,

Thanks for the info. I was out in the garage earlier making sure everything was accounted for and the above items in the picture didn't quite agree with what I was looking at on the diagram. Looks like it will work just fine.

Glad you liked the picture!

I have the same picture in my instructions. It could use some up dating.

You doing yours this weekend too Stu?

I got started and found out that the 12 point socket I thought was the right size for the hub bearing assemblies was the wrong size.

I'll have to hit Home Depot tomorrow on the way home.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, I am doing mine too. Gotta get it done one of these days.

ScottK and Mike Waterman are coming over a little later and we'll hopefully knock this out with no major problems (or minor ones for that matter).

I hope yours goes well too.

I'm working today but plan to finish mine after work. DougB might be coming over to help.
