Meet and Greet for Matt N

Matt is in Tenn for about 10 days starting Tues past. That means he'll be back in our neighborhood weekend after this one upcoming.

He asked us to get some folks together and pick a central location to get together for an afternoon or evening of food and beverages with some good offroad bs tossed in for ambience.

He didn't give Sergey a choice but to show up and Matt is headed down from the Yorba Linda area.

That puts us in the middle or just south of us, maybe San Clemente.

So, we need to know who can make it, a few suggestions for location, and a probable time to start.

Kat and I are in, anytime, any place, so the rest figure out your schedules and post up.

I'll show up.

We can have the Meet and Greet where I live in San Diego. But I realize it would be far away for some folks to travel, so farther North is all right with me.

I am good for anytime on weekends, or after 6 pm on weekdays.

Yeah, Matt wanted a more central location between you and him. There is a really nice restaurant in Costa Mesa in Triangle Square we were thinking of, but it's a tad higher class than the campfire gatherings I'm used to. But, CM is pretty much a drive for most, so it's pretty central.

You've got to be talking about "The Yard House." I have never been there, but to me it sounds like a perfect place.

http://www.yardhouse.com/default.asp

I think I'll have some Baby Leaf Spinach, for starters, with portabella mushrooms, red onions, smoked Gouda, tomatoes, croutons and balsamic vinaigrette. Then, Jamaican Jerk Wings, for appetizer. And for the main course, New Zealand Lamb Chops glazed with shiitake mushrooms, and corn risotto cakes.

I have yet to decide on a brew to compliment the food but the list is over here: click me.

The Yard House is pretty good - there is one at the Irvin Spectrum if you don't want to drive all the way to Costa Mesa - it's one of those upper/middle type chains - good beer selection.

I'll unfortunately be out of town next weekend.

Matt, it was sure a pleasure meeting/wheeling with you!

If/when I make to Australia I'll be sure and look you up.

Matt P,
It does not need to be this weekend.
I fly out on the 19th so anytime before then suits me.

Matt,

Maybe we should do both, this weekend, and the next one. Most of us eat daily anyway.

I reread all the posts, just to see what I missed, and there was never a date discussed. Did you guys already meet up?

[color=white] It's pretty hard to let them know when we don't know our ownselves.

Alrighty then

enough with the fun and games. Having failed to find a location that met the pertinent criteria, I have found a solution that meets it nicely.

Reasonably central location to San Diego, Yorba Linda, Chino, San Pedro, and the outlying wilderness areas like Temecula and Running Springs.

Comfortable, easy going, no hurry to be there on time, no hurry to leave.

Large enough area for everyone to mix and chat without the confines of individual or single large table(s) like a restaurant.

Good Grub with a decidely Southwestern Flair.

Cold drinks

Outdoors (sorta)

Easily located and found by most respondents in this thread.

Decent parking

After talking it over and running through all the stuff we wanted and have disliked about previous large capacity Meet and Greets, we've decided to have it in our backyard and garage.

We will be starting at 2 in the afternoon next Saturday and running as long as it takes to get everyone tired of Matt.

We will be furnishing the food and soft drinks. Beer drinkers, bring your favorite libation and designated drivers. We will be providing chests of ice for cooling purposes.

On the menu will be New Mexico style red enchiladas egg optional, soft tacos, guacamole if good aquacates can be found, chips, salsa, and if I can convince her to make it, a small pot of posole.

Anyone wishing to assist in the particulars may contact me at home to discuss.
