Smile Sydney & Perth, Australia in December

Just when I thought I was going to have a little brake in work travels, I recently got news that I'll be flying to Australia on work related business with a little R&R in the mix. I'm leaving on December 16th & returning on December 23rd, just prior to Christmas.

If anybody has a request for something I could pick-up & bring back, just let me know & we'll try to make arrangements.

I won't be bringing back any Australian women (except maybe one for myself ), but any small shopping item(s) shouldn't be too difficult to get through customs. I typically bring back Kangaroo & Australian type items/collectables/tshirts just as an example.

And yep, I'll be taking LOTS of pics!

PS: If you have a Jeepin' buddy there who you'd like to have something brought over to (nothing heavy), we may be able to arrange that too.

They sell boomerangs all over the place over there. I think everyone wants one. Vegemite too.

In Sydney I recommend taking a day trip west to the Blue Mountain area if you like hiking, its beautiful.

Joe,

First, you suck.

Second, if you can find it... 30 Odd Foot of Grunts albums (aka TOFOG). I have the one they released in the US, "Bastard Life of Clarity" but I need the others so if you can find any there, which you should as Russell Crowe is from there, I'd appreciate if you can get me one or two.

Third, boomerangs are cool too.

A Koala perhaps; live, not stuffed. Rita collects the stuffed ones and has over 500 now-but no live ones.

Cool, when will you be in Sydney, and for how long.

ATM I' m on holidays here (SoCal) but I'll be back early December.

Live 2.5 hours drive south of Sydney, right next door to Canberra.

Matt,

Regretfully, I'm scheduled to be in Sydney only for flight layovers to & from Perth/Freemantle. I haven't seen my itinerary yet, but I suspect I'll be in Sydney for only a few hours each time.

I've been to Sydney a couple times, but not south to Canberra yet. I've always had a GREAT time while visiting your country!!

I'm going to attempt to see some old friends who live ~45km north of Perth, in Ocean Reef. I haven't seen them in 5 years. Hopefully they won't be busy mining someplace. I'm going to try to give them a call soon to see if they will be intown while I'm there.

I spoke to Blaine a couple days ago & he mentioned you as a possible person to try to meet/visit while I'm there. He also mentioned that you are coming out this way during November & part of December, with a run to JV in the mix. I'm sure you guys will have a blast!!

Who knows, maybe I'll meet you when you are "Stateside"

That's a shame, you'll just have to do another trip in the future some time.

Hi Joe,

I'm envious!

I have been to Australia many times but still drool at the opportunity.

A favor from you if you don't mind, can you pick me up a baseball cap with a Kangaroo on it that says Australia on it. They are all over the place.

Last time we were there was in the year 2000 and the cap I have is getting kinda ratty looking! If it isn't too much trouble I would appreciate it and certainly reimburse you any and all costs.

Thanks in advance, and don't worry if you can't do it either. Just thought I'd ask.

Frank

Not a problem Frank! I just updated my list.

BTW: Do you prefer any certain color (red, blue, tan, black etc) ? You probably wouldn't like it if I sent you a pink one by surprise. LOL

So, lets see if I got this strait so far.....

1. A handfull of Booms
2. Check for albums by: 30 Odd Foot of Grunts (aka TOFOG)
3. 1 live constipated Koala
4. 1 baseball style cap with a Kangaroo & Australia printed on it

Thumbs up

I'm here, staying at Bond's.
Went wheeling Big Bear in the snow yesterday.
And we had plenty of room for all our groceries! (and the fridge)

How about a stubby holder or two? (Actually, I've got more than I need.) Have a great trip. I was in Perth and Hobart last year. Loved every minute of it.

Thanks eurobob! I'm certain we'll have some fun.

I'm not familiar with the "stubby holder". Could you expound?

BTW: My dates have changed slightly.

As of now, I'll leave on the 11th & return on the 20th of Dec.

If its not too much trouble could you get a pair of those nifty "Renegade" stickers for the side of the Jeep?

Thanks!

Hi everybody, I returned last night. The only item from the list above I didn't find were the Renegade decals. (Sorry Justin )

For those I haven't spoken with yet & have items for (Frank & Chris L), if you'll PM me your address I'll get things in the mail soon.

Also, Chris, I'll try to reach you on your cell. I plan on being in Hawthorne tomorrow & possibly we can meet if the timing can be worked out.

AWESOME! I got to see some old friends which was the high light of it. They live close to Perth (~25 clicks north) in a city called Ocean Reef.

It was a trip driving on the LEFT side of the road.

My friends work in gold mines for a living & the timing was perfect for our visit because they just finished a 2 week stay at the mines & returned home for 1 week of r&r.

I took LOTS of pics, but unfortunately my son aquired some sort of virus on my PC & lots of programs (including downloading my new pictures), doesn't work, even after reloading Canon software. My Norton & Spy Hunter anti-virus programs don't work either.
