Axle truss, coil buckets, Lower control arm tabs on the 8.8

Thanks Chris O for the design insperation.

Well just got back the 8.8 with my built truss and contol arm tabs installed. He also cut off the coil buckets off of a 35C and put them on the 8.8. All in all I am very happy with it, assumming that it fits. It is now at the other shop getting regeared for dirt cheap. (120 bucks)

Finishing the subframes, sliderz mounts, tcase skid mounts and control arm mounts tommorrow.

Happy Easter or other holiday's to all!

I've never seen anything like this done to an 8.8! Is this mod (truss), more geared towards ZJ's that wheel hard & the truss adds extra security/strength where needed? Or is this more experimental & a fun project?

I know Chris is a MASTER of 8.8's! He advised me on several items when I tossed one in my YJ.

Looks like it could be the start for a 4 link suspension.

It like like a plow if you have to back up over anything.

Yeah it is a truss plate for a four link suspension. The 8.8 have this nice little gusset on the passenger side of the pinion yoke that allows for interesting bolting points for trusses. With the welded section on the axle tube and the bolt on part near the yoke this should be plenty strong.

Thanks for the kind words.

chadjans, I like your plan. I too think that it is great of Ford to give us all those neat little places to mount stuff.

On mine, I choose to keep the entire plate removeable, so if I need to move my link attaching points around, I can simply build another upper plate. I still havent decided it I'm going to have two upper links, or a wishbone.

TJRON, the picture is mis-leading, the diff assy is up-side-down in the bed of a truck.
