TJ D44 rear axle lengths...

I figure it's a good idea to carry a rear short side for my 44 and with Erik wheeling and dealing with superior, I figured I'd order one.

After talking to Dynatrac I've found that I don't have a "short" side. Both are 29.62".

could someone please measure a stock 44 TJ short side axle for me so I can make sure it will work.

thanks.

Brian.

...just say no to "CRACK"

If you PM me your phone number, I can call you with long side and short side measurements off my spares when I get home from work.

Well according to my Dana catalog, the sizes are

29.25 and 29.75

might want to check that, but that is also what Superior axle lists the lengths for replacement shafts..

Well... yeah... it's all part of the adventure.

one more gotcha... I think I may have ruined the passenger side inner seal on the 30. gettn' some leakage. I drove around yesterday with the hubs locked hoping it'd fix itself. we'll see. Oh well, it's time to go shopping for a HP housing anyway.

on a good note... 31 bucks a tire for the AT warrentee. I think I'll get it.

Thanks Robert, I've got your umber in my cell, I'll give ya a call tonight if the numbers don't get posted first. thanks.

Brian.

Not necessarily - did you grease the part of the axle shaft where the seal rides when you installed the Warn shafts? If not, I suggest pulling them and doing that first before you pull the carrier for the new seals.

Feel free to call but the measurements already posted seem right to me.

I didn't do that, but did grease the splines so I'm sure plenty hit the seal. I've got my fingers crossed, I think it'll be fine.
