oil in 4.0 air filter

hi,
I have oil in my engine's intake air filter. It is on about 10% of the filter. I looked up in my FSM and it says to check the CCV (crank case ventilation) system for proper operation.
Now, I looked at the tubes on the engine and it seems to be coming from the plastic elbow-like valve towards the front of the engine. How do I remove this elbow-like plastic valve? The FSM doesn't elaborate and I am hesistant to start putting the muscle to it as I don't want to snap off the part and have it fall inside to the dark oily unknown reaches of the abyss. It doesn't seem to unscrew as it rotates easily already.

Anybody have oil in their air filter like me?
What did you do about it?
Anyone know how to remove that forward mounted plastic valve?

MJR would know - I'd private message or email him - he used to wrench for Jeep.

The last CCV valve I removed was on my Ford Pinto Wagon (a lovely white with wood grain) - it just pulled out of the rubber gromit on the valve cover gasket. That was my first car - 18 years ago...

Thanks man,.. It seems to me that it should just pull up but it isn't doing it easily.
Plastic parts and I don't seem to ever really get along.

Hi Guys!
Both of those links have been very helpful. I am going to pull the valve cover and give it and the other parts a good cleaning. Also I am going to get a new CCV valve and grommet using the mopar part numbers from the link that Frank put up. Now if only the overtime working weekends would quit so I would get the time to work on it. I know my oil needs changing too and the cap and rotor need to be checked out. I know I'll be spending the 4th with my head buried in my engine bay. There are worse places to be though,

The hoses are pressed in a rubber grommet that dries out with age and can be difficult to remove. The one that plugs up is at the rear where the engine vacumn is suppose to pull the oil vapors out but when it plugs they blow through into the air box. Sorry for the delay I just got back from a long wheeling trip to the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

I meant to update this thread the day after I fixed this but that date is now long past.
Anyways, I pulled off my valve cover and cleaned the beejezzus out of it with some degreaser and superclean and simple green and other noxious chemicals.
I disassembled the two little towers inside the cover and cleaned them up too.
The rear most hole was plugged with black gunk.
I replaced one of the rubber grommets due to it being dried out and leaky.
Then put it all back together and now about 500 miles later I still have no oil in my air filter and my Jeep accelerates a lot smoother and no longer hesitates when the gas pedal is floored.
I did accidentely nip one of my heater hoses as it started leaking after a day or so, but it prompted me to replace all the heater and radiator hoses which is a good thing anyhow.
