Yeah - I would say Sergey nailed it there.

The prize is a nice Leatherman Supertool 200 complete with a small pair of binoculars and a windproof butane lighter. The first person to get the 3 numbers and two colors will win.

Pic will be posted shortly

I am the sole judge of your accuracy. You have to satisfy me with your answer.

No

Who pays attention to signs at 9PM with a belly full of pork after playing on the rocks all day?

PS - exactly why wasn't Sergey right? Failure to mention Miles?

If you leave the 10 on the 62 towards Yucca Valley, you will encounter an intersection right in the middle of Yucca.

This intersection is where the 247 also known as Old Woman Springs Rd. dead ends into the 62. If you are sitting at the turn signal in the left turn lane and look to the right, you will see a sign.

It is the normal Green sign with White reflective characters on it.

It reads as follows-

Landers- 10 miles

Lucerne Valley- 44 miles

Victorville- 66 miles

I asked what they have in common.

What they have in common is they are all on one sign at a dead end that many of us have seen, ignored and passed.

I know of many out of staters who have seen the sign.

Jim M
Hellbender
Daless2
Tumbleweed
Iceman

What prompted this is I know I have driven past this intersection at least 50 times and did not notice the sign until this last trip.

I remember it being there, I know it's a mileage sign, but if asked, I could not have told you the mileage of one of the cities.

I'll have to think up another one. Any suggestions?

What did Sergey eat at the rib joint, comment that it tasted terrible (and used a colorful analogy) and then continue to eat in its entirety?

Sergey cannot answer.

The story has been told many times at camp.

I need the menu item and what he said it tasted like.

I think I'm gonna go walkabout with camera in hand and see if anyone can guess where I was standing when the picture was taken.

I'll post the pic when I finally take it.

It was a giant hopping marsupial and he stated that the large ball of meat on his plate tasted like the animal had been living on a diet of toxic waste. Of course, it didn't stop him from eating every bite.

Hmmm, what is the name of the site used for competiton rock crawling near Cedar City, Utah? Too easy?

How far did I get from home before falling asleep at the wheel when driving to that site?

You win!

You can keep the Leatherman and flash it in front of Scott at camp! Also - offer to light his cigarettes with the butane lighter he didn't win!

Scott - don't take it so hard. You were only getting 1/2 of a Leatherman anyways. You weren't even in the ballpark until I showed up

Blaine wanted to know the location of the sign too, and I did not have that answer.

The sign is not [clearly visible] on this picture, but it's the closest I could find on the net:

Dead End ??
if your looking at that sign the road
keeps going all the way to I-40.
IIRC it turns into 66 before it hits the 40

Or are you talking about the 247 being a dead end at the 62?

See the pic Sergey put up. I noticed that the 247 dead ends right there at the 62.

The sign I am talking about is directly across from that one on the 62 at the same intersection.
