Talking Another New Guy

Hi there,

Just wanted to say hello. I have been Jeepn' here in AZ for about 2 years. Been a blast. Seems like my list never ends no matter how many times I say this is my last mod or after I get "X" I will be done!

Well hello and a big jeep wave at everyone

Are they still the Goodyear MTR's? If so, then you can join the 37" club. But I must warn you "Extreme Rock Crawling" is what they like to do. So if you don't want your Jeep mangled, I wouldn't go to Johnson Valley with them.

The best question asked of Garry Hall at the CRCA competition:

Did you buy that Jeep salvaged?

There is also a "Clean & Shiny" club here at JeepBBS of which I am a member in good standing. Robert Yates is the founding member and my mentor

What kind of trails do you like to do?

Hi,

Yep MTR's. I don't think I would every change here in AZ. I love them. But everyone has their own favorites.

I run 3.5-4.5. I try not to rip a door off sinces it is my daily driver though

My daily driver too. Get the half doors from best top. They are great on the trail and you don't have to worry about your full hard doors. I just got the Sun Performance mirror relocators to use when I'm running the half doors. I like em.

Do you know Stu? He is coming to visit us at Johnson Valley in November at Thanksgiving.

Yes I do we are both in the AZVJC together.

I have the half doors. Usually I don't run doors when offroading if possible. Less to scratch...

Thanks,

Jason

Secret? Although I have stuff on my Jeep Blaine doesn't approve of he never gives me any crap about it. Tires? If I didn't get MT/Rs I would have never heard the end of it.
A group from this forum on the Rubicon, watching a huge Jeep struggling horribly on an obstacle 'cause the dingbat can't drive for crap, "It's the tires, it's his crappy tires, he'd have no problem if he had MT/Rs."

I do like my MT/Rs. Thanks Blaine.

Welcome Jason !

Ron

I am an amatuer compared to you kat. I would really like to know how I got dragged into this thread - my Jeep is a wreck compared to yours

Welcome aboard Jason - did I meet you in AZ last time I was at Stus? I don't remember any Jeeps on 37's.

LOL Ron. What most people don't know is that I do have body damage - I am just to modest to show it off

If you recall, you and I had similar problems on the one rock at the Sunbonnet squeeze. In my case, them nice big Currie rock rails sure do a nice job of covering up idiot driver mistakes

Hi Robert,

No I don't think so. I have never been to his house, just chatted via email and on the trail...

HI Jason, welcome!

I'm patiently waiting for ORfab to show up on your site again, y'know.

Twiddle, twiddle...

Edit: By the way, when I had my gas tank out to do my Kilby skid, it went back in clean and shiny to the dismay of several attendees. Do I qualify?

Hi There,

I don't think it will be carrying the ORFab.... I have decided to carry the ToysxTroy line. (More products) and there is a little bit of a conflict between those two lines.

Long story short, I have switched over. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss further if you want....

Jason

That's really a shame that they are stopping you from doing both. The OR Fab tire carrier is MUCH better than Troy's. I wouldn't let their little "conflict" stop you from doing your business. I, and a few other people, are really tired of their ****ing match and now won't buy products from either of them since neither seems grown up enough to give it up. There's enough business for everyone.

Chris

I have the ORFab and love it. I wanted to be able to use the cans. I really think both guys are great. The main reason I chose to sell Troy's stuff was there was more of it to sell. Meaning he has more products than ORFab. (Meaning more potential sales.)

Purely selfish reasons

Jason

Only if you paint the scratches after every trip When was the last time you waxed your Jeep? I think that Robert has a list of club rules, if not then he can make some up on the fly!

Dear Mr. Robert Yates, President of the "Clean & Shiny" Jeep club;

What are the rules for membership?

Its a whole different cleaning process on the east coast. I spent hours just the other night rolling around underneath wiping mud off of control arms, axles, shocks, springs, skid plates, frame, muffler, you name it. Its a never ending battle, if you choose to wage it.

You keep trying to goad me into this one Kat but I am not taking the bait. Besides, I will bet you $5 that you have waxed your Jeep more recently than I have. I will be at your place to help Blaine around 6ish tonight so you might as well plan on having that fiver handy

Last time I waxed my Jeep was after right after Blaine and I put the rear corners on and that was about a month after the Noobie run on Sledgehammer, making the date sometime around the end of April or early May. Mmmmmmmm - something from the Shish Kabob House will suffice as an alternative means of payment

Actually, I didn't technically wax it either - I have started using paint sealant on it and probably will never go back to wax. The sealant seems to work better with the black paint on my ride.

Tell me more about this paint sealant, I'm intrigued. Where do you buy it, what is it called (brand name?)?

I have had mixed results with wax. Usually pretty poor results, from my perspective (also on black).

I am using ProLong and have found it to be a viable alternative to wax. It doesn't cause build-up and after a few applications, you get past the swirl marks typical with the application of wax. Its all kind of irrelevent because the clear coat on my hood is cracked but it sure does make whats there look better. Beads up water better and also resists dust better. It always seemed that when I used wax, dust glued itself to my rig.
