Coordinates don't change as you move away from them the last time I checked Scott.

Distances (to places unkown to me), from a railroad track crossing or a point very near to a crossing , probably near JV. There is a (vehicle?) height restriction at the crossing.

I don't know what colors CA uses on those types of signs; in OH, they are usually green & white, sometimes brown & white, and I think I've seen a few blue & white.

Okay, one of the answers so far, has nailed 3/4's of it.

Scott, you ain't it.

I will tell you that it has nothing to do with the sign at the lakebed.

Grandma's taking a bath on this one.

Distances from Yucca Valley to JV, Lucerne Valley, and Barstow, on 247. I'm sticking with the height restriction & colors (though again, I don't know CA's colors), but I don't see a railroad track in Yucca Valley on my map. I'd guess it's a bridge of some sort that 247 goes under.

Grandma's got me completely lost.... Does someone's grandmother live out that way, or is it some local reference?

Hint: Whats the real name of the 247 between Yucca Valley and Lucerne?

44 miles from I-10 OR I-40 (old Route 66) puts you near where I think JV should be. 247 runs from YV to Barstow; that also looks to be about 66 miles, as I said before. And now we know about grandma taking her bath....

You guys are getting really close. Now go back and re-read all the clues again. Some of them are very literal.

I will tell you that it has nothing to do with elevation of anything.

The lighter sucks, you have to supply your own propane.

o.k., so there is one sign with all of those numbers as distances... it must not be red and white. How about green and white?

Oh trust me, you will kick yourself many times when you find out just how simple it really is.

I have given some great hints and we are at a dead end as far as any more go.
