Could be. But even if he was the guy responsible for the air defense system, if you see a passenger jet flying in your direction, what are you gonna do? Shoot it?

Looks like half of the Internet is down. The data center that hosts JeepBBS is equipped to handle very large loads; if anyone wants to use JeepBBS as a temporary communication media you are welcome to do so.

I hope so. I think there is a thread about Harry on the Off-Topic forum at JU.

"All,
Harry is in a bunker in the basement of the Pentagon, Leslie and the kids are ok and may be evacuating later and staying here with us. Right now Andrews AFB is locked down, so no one is going anywhere for the time being.
Taken off of a local mailing list. I used to fly in and out of the pentagon most every day doing VIP.
whodat"

Scary, scary stuff.
Big time terrorist knowing what they are doing is just too dam scary.
I know, and I'm sure Stu gives this some thought, blacking out the nation would be quite simple for terrorist with just a little knowledge. With good knowledge they could put us in the dark for weeks or even months with little chance of ever getting caught. We are defenseless in so many areas. I hope this is the last of this attack.
Sad, sad day.

Don't know where that report came from, but it doesn't appear to be correct...

I have only found reports of 4 planes.

At this time it is not certain which reports to believe and which ones are not correct.

Sad day guys, Some of these reports have been scattered on the TV to reflect what Sergey is saying except for the ones that are being shut down. I think they are temporarily trying to keep a lid on things to prevent additional havoc. Additional rumors will certainly follow.

Old fart's tail concerning the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1963

The only emergency I can compare to the panic during the Cubam Missle crisis is right now.
In 1963 Kennedy warned the people that our infrastructure was subject to attack and advised people to stock up on supplys.
Holly Cow, people went crazy! I was called out of school to come to the market where I worked and bring my friends to help out. We sold EVERYTHING in the super market and store room in one day. I mean everything! Even stuff in the hardware and paper sections! People were fighting over stuff!
If a warning like this were to happen again I'm sure the results would be similar except there are more guns out there now and people are even crazier!
Anyhow, I just filled all my vehicles and cans with fuel and am going to the market.
I'm telling you it was wierd in 1963 and I would want no part of it, if it were to happen again!

What? You don't think I am reliable?

At 9:00 AM, Phoenix time, they started releasing personnel from the power plant (for those of you that don't know, I work at the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant, west of Phoenix....biggest one in the US and usually in the top 5 producers in the world).

They had raised plant security by the time I was leaving.....this is on top of the normal routines of xray machines, metal detectors, nitrate detectors (bomb smelling machine), and random frisks.

My prayers go out to all that have lost a loved one in today's events.

Where were you guys?

The old days of Jeepbbs, and the events as they happen to us.

Note: Look at the date on Sergey's post.
