If it's Mig too, fast of travel speed. If you are a beginner a good book to get is The MIG Welding Handbook by ESAB. Your local welding supply store should have it or be able to get it. Great reference for speeds/feeds, Torch angles, Puddle circulation, ect.
And listen to what ALLEN has to say. |

Sorry,
I've been deathly sick..... Still am to some extent.....it's so sad. I've lost my voice and I can not really talk about e right now..... Stop running beads on flat steel. You'll go nowhere fast. Make some "T" joints. Weld both sides. Weld them to each other. Weld until you're sick of welding. Once you've masted a basic fillet weld, you can progress from there, and the rest will be easier. Position the nozzle at 45*/45*. Drag it on the steel if you have to. That's allowed. Relax. Do not tense up. Most people do without realizing it. What shade lens are you using? Post more pics as you progress. Pic number 3, weld number 2.....looks good. The others look so so, and I don't see any major defects that would scare me. But, it does look like you're running just a bit cold. Lower your wire speed or raise the voltage a tad. (Did you use the same setting on both the front and back sides?) Also, please crater fill at the ends of your welds. Weld travel stops, but welding continues for a second or so to "fill the crater" in. Otherwise, that's where the crack will start. Allen

Mine'll be here in 5 weeks. Check the welder for the proper settings. Should have a chart in the owners manual or inside the cover where you change wire. Set it for the thinner metal..... Allen
