I'm just thinking about this weight deal.
My question is how many of you during the off season try to loose some weight so you and your rig can perform better? I read about people not carring a spare not carring a high lift do to weight but how many of you are losing a few pounds yourself so your rig performs better. I'm thinking I could loose at least as much as what my winch weighs just to get the overall weight down.

I've started a concious effort to put more weight lower in my rig so I'm eating a lot of foods that make my a$$ big.
As you can see from the photos it's working. Jeff

Not a plumber, Jeff said is working on becoming plumper. Suttle difference, but important none the less.
The weight you carry in total is as important as where it is carried. Low is good, balanced front to rear is good. Less is good too. I'm worried aboout my Jeep's weight, but I don't obsess over it. I won't resort to the expense of titanium tools, but I do question what tools I carry. Useful weight is not as bad as dead weight. Carrying a back seat without passengers is simply dead weight. Armor is useful. I'm still out on the usefulness of a spare. It's like insurance; I carry it hoping I'll never need it. |

What I'm thinking if you want to get your weight lower in your rig maybe make the seats a little lower they wouldn't be as confortable but it would lower the COG. |

The UPS shipping weight of my 6" Full Traction suspension lift was over 300 lbs. The weight of the components that came off the Jeep when that lift went on was a whole lot less than that. Then figure the difference in weight between 4 245/75R-16 tires on 16x8 wheels, and 4 35x12.50R-15 tires on 15x10 wheels. That adds up to a substantial increase in weight just from the suspension and tire upgrades.
I did my part and lost 30 lbs. in the last three months though. Speedy. |

I'm doing my part, down almost 30lbs already and got some more to go.

Get a dogbed for the rear. weighs a fraction of the seat, removable, washable.
