Painting metal ?
I recently put in a new cage (PSC Trail) Thanks Chris. and havent painted it yet. I bought some primer black paint to use for the parts I added to the stock cage.
I am going to go through with a wire wheel to clean up some of the rust spots on the welded areas. My question is, should I rub the bare metal areas down with any type of alcohol or acetone?? Any sort of treatment I should do? I am real new to metal work so please teach me . My goal is to just protect the welds. In time I will pull the whole cage and paint it properly. Thanks for any info...

Supe,
For small touch ups you may want to try this site http://expresspaint.com/ They will supply rattle can paint per your vehicle paint specs along with other stuff required..... |

I bought some custom match paint similar to what Britain mentioned. The store that I bought it at also had spray cans of something called "Aeroprep" IIRC. It completely removes all oils, waxes etc and has made the paint prep process much easier!

Thats a great site, Thanks for that. I have a lot of spots to touch up on the jeep other than just painting the cage....
