Talking It's Here.....

I'm very happy with it.....

You don't even know it's back there, and it's stable empty up to 70 mph.

And it sits level.

For now.

I'm glad the pintle is adjustable for when I finish the lift and add 35s.

That looks really bad behind a red jeep - I think you should let me have it. Would look outstanding behind my green YJ.

Congrats!!

Congrats, Allen.

Check the bearings and electrical, paint it, load it up and head out west. We'll do the Dusy. It'd be perfect for that.

I think you are supposed to cross the safety chains.

I think your tires are on the wrong sides. Those look like Michelin X's and they are a directional tread. Just my $.02. Otherwise, very cool. Congrats. It reminds me of the need to finish mine.

Yes they are and I think you're right.....although the tires do not say directional nor is there an arrow indicating.....

But I'd rather know and correct it than have the belts seperate on the highway.

Thanks for pointing that out.

And the safety chains too.

I knew that but it's been almost 12 years since I've towed a trailer, and I simply forgot. Brain fart.....

Gettin' old is rough.

I always wondered why, but had numerous people tell me to do it.

So it became a habit.....

That I forgot about.

Maybe it's not necessary?

I dunno.

Urban legend?

EDIT.....

After visiting numerous manufacturers of towing and safety equipment, they mostly advise the criss cross connection of safety chains.....

No reason listed, but I'd imagine it's for better trailer stability/control if it were to seperate.

So that the hitch falls on to the chains and is somewhat retained should it fall off?

If you have a hitch related failure, might as well make the accident more spectacular by turning the trailer upside down.

That trailer would look great behind my olive drab Yeep No need to paint it then.

I've got a back half of a TJ that I plan on making into a trailer so I can carry more gear on trips and for my Rubicon 05 trip next year.
