Blaine, steering works too good...

You always seem to ask "hows your steering" to the JV rookies.

When I built my last jeep I decided to run full hydro. Worked so darn good this weekend I managed to snap my D60 drivers side knuckle in 2 pieces. Hopefully I will be able to have it repaired for JV run. Talked to a guy at Reid Racing and he hopes to have some in stock this week. According to him I guess the Ford D60 knuckles have a week spot compared to GM/Chevy.

Was going for a short breakin run for my new camper (150 mile round trip thru mountain grades). Wanted to make sure the 1/2 ton could pull the jeep and camper. Truck did great, was not prepared to break a D60 knuckle.

Joel

Bummer about the D60 knuckle. Atleast it wasn't an axle tube.

Looking forward to seeing ya' soon!

I thought you had a reactive orbital with some feedback?

It did not make any noise when it broke, had the tire not look funny I would not have known.

After closer examination it appears the weakest part of the knuckle is just below the upper kingping. Since I have high steer arms all the force has to go thru this point. If I had used the stock arms (located in the middle of the knuckle) it probably would have been fine.

After reading this, maybe I should not get my knuckle from Reid Racing. Not sure if Reiderracing and Reid Racing are the same company?

Comments anyone?

Call them and ask if they are affiliated. If not, go for it. If so, be wary.

In that case, it sounds more like the knuckles don't work so good and we still don't know about the steering.

Guess I better get the knuckles replaced and show you the steering in person.
