Wd-40

Looks like my strong belief in WD -40 has some what been thwarted, to which I have to say thanks for the positive feedback. So in order to keep my engine clean, starting first time and clear of ANY moisture what do I use ?

I usually let it dry with the hood up, after I wash the engine compartment. And at the times I have to drive right away (like at a coin operated wash for example), I never had any problems due to the engine being wet.

I don't see any reason on why spraying WD40 would cause any harm. Does it attract dirt?

The silicon in WD-40 is not well liked by O2 sensors which is why I would never wholesale spray my engine down with it. The only place under the hood I use it is to displace water in the distributor cap/wires if I happen to get to careless with the water gun at the car wash. Simple Green works really well for cleaning engines and engine compartments IMO.
