Underway aboard USS Vicksburg (CG-69)
The last two weeks I spent my time working aboard the USS Vicksburg (CG-69). She's home ported out of Mayport, Florida, which is near Jacksonville.
Anyway, all last week we were underway off the coast of Georgia and Florida doing some tactical operations and training her crew. Here's a few pics I took while at sea. Sorry for some of the poor quality shots. My little Powershot isn't up to the task of these type shots, but I enjoy taking them anyway. I'm gunna die someday - so may as well have some fun beforehand. This is a 20MM shell that the ships' 2 gattling guns shoot. Notice the warning plackards on the ammo lockers. Twin .50 cal guns mounted midships: M60 mounted on the starboard side bridgewing: We conducted some helo ops while at sea too: We spent ~1/2 day playing with the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75):
