bumper
I'm changing the way I flat tow my Jeep from a tube frame tow bar attached to the bumper to a collapsable tow bar that gets attached to the shackles. Since I'm selling my home built bumper and tow bar to another Jeeper I need to figure out what to do for a front bumper now.
Thinking something simple and small this go around since I don't need to attach a tow bar or recovery points to it. Anybody have any idea's? |

If you want simple and inexpensive, get the knock-off rockcrawler style that Rusty Horse sells. I think they only want $100 or so for it.

John,
Since you have a sorta YJ, I've still have my stock front bumper off my 95 that you are welcome to cut, paste, or whatever. The driver's side has a bit of bend to it ala Los Coyotes Indian Res. Jason |

Robert,
I don't know if Steel Horse still sells the bumper that seems to be identical to the Currie bumper. I have one I bought some years ago and I wouldn't trade it for any others I've seen, The Currie tow bar goes nice with it. Maybe it's time I paint the Poor Thing. |

So where does one go to buy Steel Horse stuff?

Compton - 4W Parts. I think they have the horns there too but you have to ask nice

Checked with 4WP, seems that the Steel Horse ones aren't available any more.

They call them Canyon Crawler or ProComp now. My rear Currie knock-off was a ProComp. Take a look at macromotive.com, they have them.

You know, for the price of that thing, you're getting dangerously close to the price of the Hasen bumper w/integrated winch mount ($155). The fairlead mount is an extra $50.

You know, unless you are really attached to thet Currie/whatever type bumper it can be done for much less. I build bumpers 2-3x/mo out of 2x4 or 2x6 stock with d ring mounts that attach to the frame with 3/4" bolts.
If I find time I'll take/post a pic. Any fabricator close to you or one you like should be able to put one together for you. I've thought about making the above style, but have you priced a drop anvil press? |

I've got a bumper just like that right now. My tow bar attaches to it. But I'm switching to using some tow shackles instead and don't want to keep the bumper. So I figured I'd try something different and run a store bought one for once.

2nd the Hansen suggestion.
This was one of the few times were I contempleted building or buying and just barely went with building. 5" .25" wall square with a notched back makes a pretty sweet bumper too thats what I finally went with.
