Angry !#$%$%$$%ing Unibody aaaarrrggghh

Yeah, before the

"I told you so's"

I got and issue (any ideas on fixes) About 6 months ago, my right rear upper control arm mount was starting to tear loose.
I gusseted it and Had Ron at ORGS help me weld it back up..really beefy..and all was well..

Driving down the road last night I started hearing a weird knocking sound coming from the same spot and I though maybe the swaybar mount was loose (its in the same general area)

We LO and behold I look under the jeep only to find a section (about 12-14") of the frame deciding to find a new home!!!..

the mount and surrounding area is starting to peel back like a tuna can from the pseudo frame, not just the mount, but a good section of the surrounding metal.

Damn it sucks having 16 guage tin for a frame..

Just ranting...

BTDT and my old XJ is now resting in peace. That XJ was a lot of fun but when it got to about 11 years old it took a turn for the worse and started tearing itself apart.

Try one of these.

#1. Sub frame~box tubing and cross members.

#2. "For sale" sign.

The second of the two much cheaper and easier than the first.

Did you gusset onto the thicker sections of the uniframe?

When I lost my upper rear bracket, I rebuilt it and gussetted it - welding the gussets onto the thicker section of uniframe fore and aft of the bracket. Not a problem after that.

You could take this as a sign to get working on some longarms.

Maybe you could just have the Minister of Information from Iraq take a look at it for you and bless it back into well being. It would appear that he is as good at sticking his head in the sand as most unibody owners are.

Talking

Iraqi minister of information hang himself on April 9th.

Want to her something real funny? The Saddam Hussein's body doubles were very upset when they found out that Saddam wasn't killed but only lost a leg in the bombings.

The Iraqi Minister of Unibodies:

"Our unibody is immensily strong. It will pave the way to the graveyard of destruction of your regular framed SUV. Your regular frame will choke to death on the isane strength of our unibody."

Reporter: "So, what is that chunk that is peeling off your unibody then?"

Iraqi Minister of Unibodies: "What, that isn't anything peeling off. That is unibody frame venting. It allows for the total domination of unibody over regular frame"

Man I loved that Iraqi Minister of Defense. Bombs, what bombs, we're winning the war your imperialist heathen!.

That guy was a nut.

I especially loved the part when they were grilling him on the prescence of american troops in bagdad..

His reply "the americans were pushed back and defeated", they are nowhere near Badgad, the infidels have been driven out and destroyed...

THey had a split screen of a battalion of M1Abrams tanks in the back ground blowing stuff up at the same time...that was pretty funny...

By the way, sorry about your unibody. That sucks. Could be worse, though. You could have little holes tearing open around the hatch, like me. Makes for fun rainy days.

By the way, thanks to everyone who chimed in when I asked for waterproofing advice. Siliconed and sealed and I now have a water free rear cargo area once again.

My next job will be the Information Minister of either Iran or Syria - whoever we decide to f*ck up next.

I also loved the part of him on the roof - a super tight close up so you couldn't see the buildings exploading and burning in the background "Bagdad is safe"

Shalom - unbelievably classic about the Minister of Unibodys.

Hell Mike - you don't even beat your unibody very hard.

Long arms are for hanging around in trees.

Desert sheep have short legs.

You're absolutely right, I am an animal

My argument for the longs arms is the simple fact that they (well atleast claytons design) really do take A LOT of the stress off of the unibody.. But I guess only time will tell if I'm right or not...

If they had long arms on the Titanic, it might not have been sunk, I suppose. Wouldn't have split it's seams.. right?

By the way, the Titanic move, I've seen it.

Not to spoil it, but the boat, it sank.

Absolutely filthy crap ridden film - one of the worst I've seen.

The only good things - the boob shot and the special effects.

I wish someone would give me several million dollars to make a crappy film.

That may very well be true, but I bet you wouldn't turn down a 1/10 of 1 percent residual on the gross.

Now I feel dumb. :yup:

I know they don't float... I learned the hard way... Infact I think it sank faster than the Titanic. Would've made a better movie though
