Is seemed box tubing fine for control arms?

Hey guys: starting the long arms within the week and was wondering if 2by2by1/4 seemed box tubing would be fine for the arms? What do you think?

Chad - I can't help you with your question, but I have one for you. Not to be an a$$, but why are you going long arm? Is it for a better street ride? If so you might think about those RE drop brackets - then you won't have to cut your frame mounts off. How high are you going and why? What are you building your GC for?

Just curious.

I know Clayton uses square box tubing but I don't know what size.

I will not run some bracket to fix some problem where the best solution that I can do is long arms. I have seen RE brackets become shovels and hinder any foward progress by getting hung up on rocks. Besides there will still be short arms in the rear. I also need adjustables so that is the cost of long arms there.

My long arm plans include a frame rail sleave and subframe, which will also be tied into the cage. My doors are slowly becoming harder to shut from the trails I do. THe cage and subframe will hopefully stiffen the frame/body. I have the resources to do this entire project so I do not mind doing it with my cheap labor. Thirdly I do not mind trimming off the arm mounts, the jeep isn't worth anything to anyone else but me and this is going to become my perminant trail rig. DOORS OFF

If you run RE brackets the control arm mounts become the lowest thing. So without the RE brackets I would assume I would be getting hung up on the crossmember and tcase skid. Which in my case is the belly skid. With the long arms the arms will become the lowest thing but since of my material choice they in themselves will become skids.

Why are you mounting your arms lower than the bottom of the pumpkins?
