Chris is at the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week this week again...

They have three cars out there trying to break land speed records in several categories.

Here is one of the cars:



Today they posted an amazing 289 mph in the Streamliner...the car is impounded till tomorrow, when they have to meet or beat the speed they did today to make it official. They are hoping to run in excess of 300mph tomorrow...The old record was 255

They also posted another record of 218 (I think)...the car is also in impound till tomorrow...when they have to do it again for it to be official.

I figured something had to be going on there in the salt flats. I live in Ely Nevada; I have seen several of these types of cars coming in and out of town.

I have also seen a huge amount of trail jeeps coming through town as well. Usually the only time we see lots of jeeps come through town is for the Easter Jeep Safari. I was wondering if the Jeep Jamboree was happening at the Rubicon or something...

did the Jeep Mayhem Tour pass through that area...I heard they were running last week, ending the tour at Sturgis...not sure, just curious...
