Stoddard Valley Cleanup Run Report 1/28/06

Great time picking up trash with Jeeping buddies not to mention some wheeling on Sunday. I'd like to thank Primedia, all the vendors, and clubs (thanks to the Inland Empire 4 Wheelers for the food) for their setting this up and supporting it. Lots of people and lots of trash. It's amazing some of the stuff you find out there. Some of the items included a burned out RV trailer frame, a burned out VW Jetta, 82 Toyota pickup cab, nearly complete Toyota rear axle, washers, drier, fridge, and more. All the dumpsters were overflowing by noon.

Here's a few photos and a link to the rest.

Great write up. I would also like to thank you for your clean up effort. I was unable to make it.

Thanks Mike, gotta love the comment about Chris's rig. Anyone get pictures of the fire ring in front of the staff camp?

If anyone did it would be Tam, but I'm not sure if she took any.

Yes, pictures were taken, while I cleaned up the mess.

Some people (who shall remain nameless, because they should be held to a higher standard) were pitching their glass bottles into the fire, and letting them melt.

I mentioned it to them, saying "I guess that will be the first bag of trash I clean up tomorrow, the bottles in the fire ring."

They replied "The fires really hot, the bottles will melt."

I attempted to get them to stop doing it, and they shrugged and turned away.

I cleaned out the fire ring on Sunday.

Ive spoken to someone with the Barstow OHV Field Office, who said he'd speak to the guys that did it. Hopefully, that will be all thats necessary.

Do you think I should do more?

Tam

Kind of an ironic situation considering we were at a clean up.

I think you did plenty. More than most would do. Most would have just left it there to be until next year. I think you should call again and follow up to see if they actually talked to these guys. Other than that lets keep cleaning our playgrounds so we can keep playing.
