How hard is it to.......

Cut off the body mounts and move them up I smashed one up pretty bad on Saturday and it stoped all forward movement.

Scott- this is a difficult task to accomplish correctly.

The frame and body are quite flexible and the amount of weight each mount has to support is critical to re-alignment of everything.

I was very careful with Kat's and still messed up the front one a bit. I have to machine about an eighth of an inch off of the front bushing to make the fenders work correctly.

You have to support the frame and be able to lift the body straight up. It is difficult to determine the heights because the mounts operate in compression. There is no way to know how much to really move each one.

On Kat's I supported everything and took careful measurements. Raised the body up evenly, and supported it in place. Once in place at the new height, I cut off the mounts and moved them up to the new locations. I was very careful and still had some differences at the front.

The key is to support the frame at the spring perches. That is it's normal state. The body has to be supported in several places as it is quite flexible.

It would also help to have a level flat floor to work off of.

It is not who you know, It is who knows you

Jeeps do not make jeepers, jeepers make Jeeps.
