Question Funny Tire Wear Up Front

My front BFG MTs have worn one lug high, one low, one high, one low, etc. all the way around, all the way across.

Why?

No, I haven't rotated them.

They were used tires on their last leg.....not because of tread depth, but because of age and dry rot. So I knew they'd be replaced sooner rather than later, and I got lazy.

However, I was lazy with my last TJ too.

I never rotated the BFG MTs on that one, and the fronts wore just fine.

So what's the deal?

Allen

is there a difference in lift height between your last tj and this one?

If so (this one is taller), then you have your answer.

Right now this one is shorter.

It'll eventually be taller.

How does lift height cause on lug to wear lower than the other?

Height can affect castor, depending on how your lift is set up.

My ZJ cupped front tires once it got tall.

Since you said it was shorter, you have soemthing tweeked in your suspension or your toe is off, perhaps.

Yes TB I got it and have yet to respond.

Sorry, I've been very busy wearing my front tires funny.

Since I have a 4 day weekend here, I'll get back to you.

Allen

I'd suspect alignment, camber, balance or a combo of all three.

We put BFG MT KMs on the Durango. Those things are wearing like crap. They're a hell of a lot noisier than the old BFG MT, and require alot more frequent rotating to keep them from wearing the lugs funny.
