Any Opinions on Rapid Deflators??

Guys, I am looking at purchasing a set of "rapid" air down deflators.

I have been using the Sun ones and am looking for something a bit different.

does anyone have experience with any other??

Oasis?
Staun?
Currie?

any help would be appreciated..

I have tried the Oasis ones, not real fast. I like the clip on chuck that tire shops use for their tire machines-called European style.
has a 1/4" barbed fitting on other end of clip on chuck. Big difference it goes straight on the stem, not angled. Does not get hung up on the rim or beadlock that way. About $9 retail from tire shop suppliers. Another nice thing, my tire gauge goes right on the barbed end and gives me a good reading while it is airing down.

Depends on how low you need to go to cruise the mall. I think the speed bumps will easily handle 20 psi +.

Mike, it's very hard to beat the Staun deflators. 2psi differential to restart, can be restarted by hand, small, a bit fiddly to first get adjusted, but very accurate.

The Oasis ones are great if you like messing with folks. They have a 10 psi differential and no way to restart them. I'd wait until they got them all going, then I'd walk over and put my finger over the end of each one. That stops them from releasing air and the owner now has to manually air down.

I had Oasis and they were as much of a pain and inconsistent as Blaine mentioned. My dad has the Stauns and they are definitely an improvement. I have since gotten a Currie deflator and am quite happy with it.

The Currie is great if you want consistancy and a wide measurement window for fine adjusting.

I bought a set of Oasis from some guy who was selling his Jeep several years ago.

I would tell you that I have no issues with them and that they air down to the setting I have them adjusted for....but since few folks seem to like them them, I'll skip the recommendation and tell you to try an old rusty nail. Nails are cheap, plentiful, as accurate as you want them to be, and can be found at virtually any regularly used 4x4 area.

i've got one in my left rear tire if anyone wants it

i like my stauns because after setting them, they won't adjust themselves, they're easy to start if they somehow stop airing down (haven't had that problem yet) and they'll start at virtually any air pressure. i liked just screwing them on and being able to BS with the crew rather then babysitting the valve stem with a pressure gauge and trying to remember where i put the core when i reached the final pressure

Stu, I think you and I are the only two people who like them.

Mine had the added advantage of being free. Had a gent on a H-D in the canyon one day who had a "$100 bill that says my Harley is faster than your Jap bike" (YZF-1000R)

He gave up when I hit 3rd....

I have these:

Nothing faster.

Good to have your own OBA, in case you let too much out or someone plays a joke on you and cracks your valve(s) open when your parked somewhere.
