Weight of rigs
Garry & I hit the truck scale today. Garry's TJ is 3720lbs, stinky weighed in at 3840lbs.
Robert, you were right, the Cherokee is heavier than a TJ, at least in this case. Anyway, we're both pretty happy with our recent diets. Paul |

Wow, that's pretty surprising with the amount of metal and glass you removed.
Mine must be a bit heavier than my estamated 3500 pounds. Jes |

I think mine is a bit lighter than most Jes, Farmer Matt said his weighs 4900lbs! If you have a chance go weigh yours, maybe the 2 doors are even lighter.

Farmer Matt has a great way to shave weight while on the trail...

PS - Garry's recent diet included removing the entire HVAC system, which weighed a palty 1.3 pounds, but required 9 hours to remove... Jeff

As for me - I've kicked around a number of 4000 lbs for my rig in trail dress. That might be about right if I use Garrys' number as a comparison. |

Probably the biggest thing on Garry's is the front windshield & frame. That's gotta weigh a bit. Both our rigs were completely empty. Throw a spare tire in & a few tools & mine will be up to about 4000lbs. Paul |

Anyone have a stock or built TJ with a 4 banger and an auto? Have you weighed it?
I thought Garry had a lexan front windshield - did you put your glass back in Garry? Jeff

In case anyone wonders what a fat pig my KIA is, I'll tell you.
With a spare tire, full tools, camping gear, cooler full of ice, beverages, and food, spare driveshaft, winch bag, full cage, full tank of gas and me out of the Kia, it was 4940. 60s with ARBs, Atlas II Long arm Full skid plating 37" on 15" beadlocks... Seth |
