XJ armor Rocker Gaurds and Bent ZJs
Hey fellow short bus drivers.
I know most of you are set as far as rocker guards are concerned. I just wanted to let everyone know that you may want to pass up XJ armor rockers and purchase something else instead if you have at all wheeled your ZJ, or smashed the frame rails or pinch welds in any way. They become very hard to install if your pinch welds are not perfectly straight. Anyway, a word to the wise, and thanks again to Scott for suffering through this install while helping me. At least I have both on now and my ZJ is no longer listing to one side like a capsizing boat. |

if you do have bent pinch welds DO NOT follow the directions. they look really good on and look like they can take a beating.

One more thing. The instructions are very detailed and nice. They also list something like 3 or 4 different types of drill bit sizes that you should use for install. A small one for tapping, a large one for drilling the frames out and another for the pinch welds.
You need one drill bit size. 9/32. It works for all holes, so long as you have a nice punch and a good hammer to start the hole with. |

last tip is to keep all heavy tools away from your face it is pricey to get a chiped tooth fixed.

Shalom, glad to hear that you finally got them on...
bummer about the hassle...that is what you get for wheeling without the pinch welds being protected, those rocker guards are really beefy though.. Michael

yeah.. They look good. I'm pretty sure they are going to hold up. I'd bet the jeep breaks before they do.
Although all the beefiness comes at a cost. Man those things are heavy. I can totally notice the extra weight driving around now. |
