Choosing a good MIG wire size
Seems like I almost always run solid core .030 MIG wire although I do have a battle spare 10# spool of .023. I do change the tip whenever changing wire size.
Generally speaking, I weld ~1/8"-1/4" mild steel and rarely thicker. Should I stick with the .030 stuff I usually run? Machine is a 175 MM MIG with a mix tank. |

Are you having issues?
If not, I'd stick with it then. I run .035 for that thickness range.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a web welder. I really need to practice more.
Now that you mention it, I think I'm running .035 & not the .030 I mentioned. Stupid me. |
