fire -- US 50 closed between pollock pines and South Tahoe

I hope they get this one out fast.

The good news is this fire has a very good eastern and northern border as a result of the cleveland fire of 91. The winds at this time would blow the fire right into the area that has very little fuel.

FIRE UPDATE

St. Pauli Incident Eldorado National Forest

Update Time: July 26, 2002 10:30 PM Fire Size: 300 acres

Containment: 0%, no forward progress of fire perimeter at this time.

Wildland Fire started: 7/26/2002 at 3:53 PM. One-quarter mile south of St. Pauli Restaurant on Highway 50.

General Location: 10 miles east of Pollock Pines, burning north of Highway 50 in the old Cleveland burn. The fire is between Highway 50 and Weber Mill road. Ice House Road forms the western boundary.

Description: The wildland fire is burning in grass, brush and timber mostly in the old Cleveland burn north of Highway 50 and east of Ice House Road. It is currently at 300 acres and there is no forward progress of the fire at this time.

Fire Restrictions: The Eldorado National Forest has been in Fire Restrictions since July 12th. No wood or charcoal fires are allowed outside of designated developed campgrounds. Gas stoves are allowed.

Resources Threatened: 11
Evacuation: None
Weather: Westerly wind at 10 mph and relative humidity is 20%.
Committed Resources: 326 total personnel; (11 crews, 22 engines, 3 dozers, and 8 water tenders).

Road Closures: Closures will be in effect overnight.
?Highway 50 westbound at Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. Alternative route to
South Lake Tahoe is available via Mormon Emigrant road to Highway 88 to
Highway 89.
?Highway 50 eastbound at the highway 50 and 89 intersection in Meyers.
?Ice House Road southbound at Peavine Ridge Road.
