Rancho Front Shock help
So I'm attempting to install my RS9000X shocks (that have been in the garage for months) and of course - they are wrong.
Blaine and I chatted about specs and I spent some time on Rancho's web site. I found three PNs that seem to have the 11" travel I'm looking for and have a stem (code s42) up top: RS99234 - 10.8" travel RS99238 - 11.375" travel RS99251 - 10.8" travel None of these have a cross pin (code XP5) on the bottom. In fact, I can't find a Rancho shock with +10" of travel that DOES have a cross pin. These shocks come with a pressed in metal sleeve. Of course I can remove the sleeve, but I'd really like to find a shock with a cross pin. I'm running a Currie 4" lift - what Rancho shocks are you guys running up front - I only need NEW RS9000X numbers - I know the correct 9000 number (which I can't get anymore). Currie's catalog shows their part number 9151 but the Rancho 99151 has lame specs (6" travel, with bushings in both ends). Thanks for any help. Jeff

Jeff,
I honestly can't say that any of my Rancho shocks ever came with a bar pin (cross pin). I have some 9017's sitting in the garage. They are 10" travel, now the 99017's are listed as 9.625" (Robert told me the new nine way valves use up a little more internal space). They are S42 on top and L1 (bar pins) on the bottom. They worked nicely for me on my previous lift. edit: they are abotu 25" extended and 15" compressed |

Jeff.....right now, I am not looking to sell them. I was just quoting you the specs from them so you might be able to find something that would fit. If I decide to change back to a softer spring (which would also be a little shorter than what I now have), I'll be using them again.
I did check....they are 16" and 26" for their lengths. |

Jeff, any chance you can just knock out the bushing and replace with a cross bar type?

Yea - that is what I'll end up doing. The bushing will need to be pressed out - it is in there big time - and those cross pins that you insert never seem to work as well as the factory installed ones. I don't really want to go to a BPE. Thanks, Jeff
