Question Garage Doors

I am replacing the regular garage door with a roll up type. Main reason: to gain one or two inches so that I can drive the jeep inside without resorting to tricks like airing down tires.

Are there specific types of roll up doors that offer best clearance? Should I look at any specific brands or anything?

I did the same about a year ago, the roll up doors will in all probability be above the sill height so you can pickup the that distance taken up by old door. My jeep goes in with about 2" left over were prior could not get in at all. (YJ w/3.5 RE 1"Body & 32"Tread) If your Jeep is tall, you probably could add a section to a standard door and raise the sill the required distance relatively cheap.
But the best thing was the seal and insulation provided my garage (faces SW) used to get extremely uncomfortable in afternoons. Now it's cool.

If the garage faces west, you may want to consider an insulated door. my garage faces west and it gets really hot in the summer. If I ever replace the doors I will install an insulated door.

I have a roll on track style door that is 1" higher than the garage opening. I think the height of the opening is 6' 11" and the door is 7' tall.

Sergey,

The previous owner of my house raised the header and put in an insulated roll-up door (mine faces north). I'd definately do the insulated door, not only for heat, but for sound insulation as well. I'll measure mine when I get home. Also, I'd go for the solid door w/out windows so people can't eye your stuff (or see your mess if that is the case).
