Google Earth... WOW!!!!!!!

You guys have to download and check out Google's new "Google Earth" program. You can go to any address, see the actual building there, fly around the area, fly around the earth and "visit" locations, zoom around downtown NY. I even checked out some of the areas in Vietnam I used to be at.

This is definitely a VERY cool program. My very non-computer type wife is now glued to her computer playing with Google Earth and checking out her old neighborhoods, school, etc. She plans to use it with her new real estate career to show prospective clients what the neighborhood and surrounding areas are like.

Download it from http://earth.google.com/ and see if you don't think it's as cool as my wife and I think it is.

Good stuff. I haven't opened it in a few week because it wasn't working on my computer for some reason. Nice to see it is now. Great program!!!

That's because you're unemployed and have no credibility.

I played around with it a couple of weeks ago when the other thread was posted.

My only complaint is that the less populated areas are not covered so for example, if you start in a place like Big bear city and you want to follow a mountain trail, you run off into areas that are not plotted sometimes.

Also it is very, very hard to actually follow a trail in the mountains due to the terrain differences and the trees and cliffs and such, so it is not much good for offroading purposes.

It works really well in the city areas though. It was fun to check out possible shortcuts and compare them to city street maps. Comparing maps to google earth gives you a better sense of what the drive will actually look like.
