Talking I found The Great Pumpkin!

So I'm getting frustrated with how long it's taking to finish my CJ project. So I've been keeping my eye out for a mild wheeling rig I can putz around in while I work on the CJ. And I found it. It's a 1977 Jeep Cherokee S widetrack with a 401, TH400 and Quadratrac. It's a little rough and needs some minor work (like putting in a V8 radiatior instead of the 2 core 6 cyl radiator that's in it now...) and replacing a few gaskets but all in all it was a pretty good deal.

It has a little "ding" in the driver side rear that will have to have some attention given to it before I drive it much but it's not so bad. At least I won't worry about scratching it up any.

I'm also going to have to put some lift springs on it because the front tires rub like hell on even mild ruts in the pasture. But that's what you get with 33" tires with no lift on a vehicle like that.

I had one of those - mine was tan. I lifted it 4" and put 33"s on it.

Mine was a serious money pit though!

They are vintage cool though.

Well, it only set me back $400 so it's not a bad foundation. It runs and drives just fine right now, except for needing a few gaskets. And those only run $135 for everything and I'll have them in by the end of the weekend. A carburetor rebuild to improve drivability and a few minor fixes to the body and it'll be in "good enough" shape.

Another $6-700 for the lift kit and it'll be wheelable.
