Anza Borrego run and pre run.
I'm going to go to Anza Borrego in October, and am planning a pre run in September. Probably the 15 or 14th. This would be a little bit looking around, a little bit lost, and little bit of note taking. Not much play. Anyone want to come along?

Jeep squeeze. (Picture courtesy of Scott Hill's website, and Scott Hill). Probably the hardest spot because you gotta watch out to stay out of trouble. Hardtops are not recommended (run what you brung, but be forwarned, they can suffer if you're not carefull). The last big group I took through was done with the trail in about 5 hours. But we skipped Sand Stone Canyon: Which is cool, and has some ok rocks at the end.

Well, To be honest UK, I have no problem with you coming. I'm just.. Scared. You see, with the exception of ONE JEEP RUN, (Just one) anytime I've been on the trail with a RED YJ, it has broken. And I have witnesses: Ask :Scott Hill, Robert Yates, Jerry Bransford, Art Welch, and others. I am confident that you'll be the exception to what has been collectively known as the "Curse of the red YJ"... (que music).

I know about the "curse". All the guys who were there at the Big Bear weekend a few weeks ago warned me about it (and said, "i'm glad William's not here").
No problems yet, though........ |

I think William is the carrier for the curse of the Red YJ. It only shows up when he's around.

Uh, maybe another of those weird "William" things?
I've seen Tim's red YJ. It is very well prepared. It's easy to tell Tim is not one of those guys that never looks at his Jeep until it breaks. Ron |

I will say that the problems experienced with them in the past had to do with ill prepared jeepers.

Well Tim,
Since you've been properly endorsed by Joe Dillard, I guess you're gonna be ok. Sounds like a run. Anyone else let me know..

William,
Just where would the 'Stagecoach' campground be? Do I head down the 15, exit 79 just like I was going to LCIR? Jason |

Hello Group
My name is Tim, I was reading your post about going out this weekend and wanted to let you know that butterfield ranch is open for camping for only $10 per nite. They are only about 6-8 miles past stage coach trails on the same road. They have a pool Also they have water ,electric and sewage dump at every camp site as a bonus they have grass and some good shade. We camp there often. I have done pinion mountain trail to the drop off. Its fun and challenging. Are you going to do the whole trail? Maybe me and the wife and kids could tag along? We both have cherokees.Hope this info helps www.butterfieldranch.com Thanks Tim S |

There's a map of the area. Basically, you come over, through Julian, into banner, down the Banner Grade, and hang a right at sisor crossings. Drive a few miles.. and it'll be on the right. I'll look at a proper map tonight, but you can get the idea. It's called stagecoach wells.
