I have the same shock as Robert and I also don't need more droop - of course both Robert and I are running short arm lifts - and you have a LA - correct?

I can measure my shaft tonight - I have a special ruler for it (starts at 4")

LMAO!!!! I can see we think alike. Short arms, long shaft = droop.

Roberts - it's okay to be honest with us - there is nothing to be ashamed of...your capri pants were a dead giveaway...really even Gov. James E. McGreevey is doing it...

Robert - you KNOW I'm teasing you!

He was our Governor in NJ until today after he admitted that he had a homosexual affair on his wife and that he actually is gay. He's got kids too.

So Robert are you saying that you are attracted to these fine men but won't act on it unless their anatomy changes?

This is great guys...just like Springer... on Jeeps

btw, I'm about to fit Tera longarms to replace my 6 yo 4" Tera SA's which work like the day they were fitted following use in several comps and constant abuse (but frequent steaming gob-loads of molyb grease thrust into their nipples) by my gorilla-inspired driving technique...

...How sick AM I ?!?!

I hear ya Gordo. I started out with a 3" Tera kit and it worked great with 33's. I bought the kit used from a buddy who had wheeled with it three years at such places as Moab, Colorado and all the imfamous trails here in AZ. The kit always held up and never broke a bracket off the frame. I just sold it to the third owner now and he is loving it. What matters is that YOU are happy with your lift.

I run a 6" TBT lift with 1" BL. It too uses SJ coils F&R. The lift has done fine so far other than the cartridge joints don't measure up to RE's or Curries in my opinion. They get sloppy fairly quick. Troy is stubborn and if he can build it; he won't buy it from a vendor. Also; I think I can go with a longer bodied shock in front than what's supplied with the kit. I have Rancho 9168 fronts which show 7" of shaft while sitting static on the Jeep. That sure is alot of up travel! I want droop. Blaine has counseled me on this issue, but it's hard to get motivated in this hellish heat.

I'm kinda curious what you guys are running up front? How much shaft shows?
I really owe a correction here. Stu informed me that our joints are made by Daystar. Thus; the problems we are having are due directly to Daystar and not so much Troy. I ramped the Jeep this morning at a local get together. I can easily run an inch longer shock in front than the 9168's. The 9168's only have 9.66" of travel. Anybody have a part number of a Rancho to fit the bill? Do you know that the 9168 used to have 3/4" more travel before they went to the 9 way adjustables??? Quite a loss of stroke there.

Yup, pretty much all of the Rancho's lost that much by going to the 9 way adjustable, which seems about as useful as **** on quail.
I think that they did it more to "keep up with the Jones" (the PC 6 way adjustable's) more than anything else

No doubt. First Rancho's 5-way RS9000 shocks, then ProComp's 6-way MX-6, then right after that, Rancho's 9-way R9000x. Obviously a case of one-upsmanship, where will it end?

With my 6" Full Traction LA lift, I'm running 9251's up front. 16.125"/27" with 10.875" of travel. At full droop, the springs stay seated in the bucket.

Fred;
A very good point indeed. I keep my Ranchos on #3 all the time. I would have been better off with a custom valved shock that suited my needs. Thanks for the link. The Rancho web page seemed a bit confusing to me.

Does anyone gain anything by stiffening up the Ranchos while on the trail?

Jeff;
Thanks for your input. I have been meaning to ask you. How come you're not running the Bilsteins from FT?

What was confusing about the Rancho shock spec link that I posted ?

Yes. I run #4 (out of 5 positions) on the trail.

I stiffen my Rancho's up also when on the trail. Helps minimize the side-to-side body roll (bounce) and makes the trail more comfortable. Especially for my wife who has a bad back and has trouble with side-to-side bouncing.

Blaine had performed the outboard shock mod on my Jeep prior to adding the FT lift. Purchasing the correct length rear shocks was an easy choice due to their many sizes and their buy 3 get 1 free promo going at the time.

When did that start happening?

I remember the days when setting #1 was the only way to run a trail.

Nothing at all. I was saying that when I searched Rancho's page originally; it was a bit confusing. After you posted that link; I was fine.
