1" BL question
Hello,
I've never done one before, but I am in the process of putting on a 1" BL. This is on my '99 TJ with 2.5L auto. I already have an electric (Taurus) fan in place, the clutch fan is gone... So, with that in mind, it seem like I can skip all the steps with respect to the fan shroud, radiator, etc. However, because I have an auto, I am not sure if I need to do anything with the shifter? Can I just leave it as is? I have the 1" system from MORE, and I am doing all of the isolators at the same time as I do the aluminum spacers. Thanks for any advice. I'm at the point where 9 of the 11 bolts are loosened (except the two difficult to reach ones, which I saved for another day). Before I go installing anything, I wanted to double check whether I do or do not need to mess with the shifter bracket area. Thanks all patrick |

You mean the automatic transmission shifter? It is connected with flexible cables with enough slack to accommodate most body lifts.
The transfer case shifter, on the other hand, sometimes becomes a problem, but usually not until you put a belly-up cross member of some kind. |

I have a 1" Currie body lift and mine is also an automatic. I didn't have do anything with either shifter...works like a charm!

Ok that makes sense. Hoping to finish it off this evening.

Get the Skyjacker or AA t-case relocation bracket and call it good. You can also relocate the linkage on the tub if you don't want to spring for the bracket.
Otherwise, there is a little bushing in the t-case linkage that will eventually become worn and you will have to get under your rig and manually shift it once it pops. Ask me how I know this |

Relocation bracket came with the kit, so I should be set. I just wasn't sure if I needed to also do something with the transmission, but it doesn't seem to be the case...
Now if only those two hard to reach bolts come off as easy as the other nine did, I'll be happy |
