Jeff, agreed on that lease price being very attractive - thats what got me started on this line of thought. |

Ask mrblaine if he is buying a new truck again, his old ones are diesel, and can usually be had for very sweet price.
BTW, still record the miles even if you buy a little vehicle. Diesel is not a requirement (for tax purposes), and the 6000 lbs requirement is for the section 179 deduction, where you can deduct up to $100,000 in the first year, or something like that, it is separate from the business use of your vehicle deduction. Ask Chris L (and confirm with your tax guy), basically, if you buy a Diesel (as in heavy enough) truck, there is a way to write it off completely in the first year. |

You don't need a truck, how about a Hummer H2, then. You need to look sharp on the job, don't you?

...and then what?
All I can see with the BJ mobile is unending ridicule from the liberal elite for being an anti american gas hog and a menace to the poor car buying public |

Let's build a monorail! From your house to your office, and to all the meeting places you go to.
? How to find original supporters ? JeepBBS ? How to organize your supporters into a group, or groups ? Tell them "you better!" ? How to announce your group to the public and government officials ? Via USPS. ? Putting together a system proposal, that will be accepted as viable Monorails appeal to the liberal elite and therefore are viable ? What are some of the $ costs of getting a system approved In the times of budget uncertainty in CA the officials better approve the system right away and don't waste taxpayers money on any costly approval processes. ? How much will it cost to build and operate the system The costs will be directly proportional to kickbacks to the government officials. ? How to calculate projected revenues What revenues? The monorail system is not for profit. It's because it is good. ? Finding the financing needed to build and operate your system We'll have barbeque raffle, and the rest will be covered from the CA budget. ? How to deal with those who don't want your system Use a broom on them. Not the handle end, the end that has bristles. And replace bristles with rusty nails. |

We're getting to the point where we've managed to train this one fairly well and the system has been generally worked out. Which means it's about time to go out and have another and throw everything out of whack again. WHHHHhheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You know? |

Buy a motorcycle They are great on gas and where you live you probally could ride most of the year. And they are not very expensive.

Robert,
Don't listen to 02_WHITE_TJ_X. He doesn't like you, and wants you dead. Support the monorail system! |

Tracy,
You haven't ever been out to So Cal have you or if you have, you weren't paying attention to what was going on out on the freeways. You get better odds at the craps tables in Vegas than you do riding a bike around here. The car is about a done deal, I am just waiting on the paperwork to be faxed to me. I'll be going with the lease on the Civic VT that was discussed earlier. |

Robert,
Let me know how the lease works out and if there is any hidden "gotcha's". After dropping my Civic off for service yesterday and looking at the Odysseys while I was waiting for my loaner car, I think I'm gonna' go for it. BTW, the service yesterday at the Honda dealer was the best that I've received at any dealership. Maybe there's hope yet.

Well, outside of the usual "we as customers don't have all the information" there appears to be no gotcha's. The VT does not come with floor mats, side moldings, or power anything. It does come with a/c, automatic and cd player.
The residual is 55% from AHFC which is more than what you would get from a bank so thats a good place to start if you do not plan on ever buying the car. The cost of money from AHFC is .0017 which works out to about 3.9% which is also ok, not great but ok. My friend played with the residual for me as I wanted more miles, alloy wheels and cruise and he thinks he can get me those items with no money out of my pocket as they will bump up the residual. Bumping up the residual is what makes the lease cheaper but you need to understand the cost of those extras, what you are going to be charged for them and how they will affect the MSRP which is what the residual is based on. Basically, when I hit my milage, I will need to give the car back and get another one as it will be very cost prohibitive to buy it with the inflated residual. The other side of that coin is that the high residual should then put me into another new car without any money out of pocket, or else very little. |

Robert,
In my experience the residual you agree on in the beginning is negotiable at the end. We leased a Trooper several years ago - $3500 down full refundable $199 a month - this was a really nice car with lots of options. At the end of the lease we were within our miles and had ever intention of giving it back. The payoff that we agreed to was in the neighborhood of $18K. Isuzu sent us a letter saying that they had adjusted our payoff to $12K (mostly due to those rolloever reports). I took the car into a Toyota dealership, the guy appraised it at $14K, I said deal, apply the difference to my down payment and we purchased our Sienna. He was ****ed to find out my payout was only $12K. Make them an offer at the end of the lease if you really want it. Jeff

How does Sales/Use Tax work on leased vehicle? Do you have to pay the use tax on the total price of the vehicle, or on the price of the vehicle minus residual?

You pay the tax monthly based on MSRP is how I understand it but I maybe see your point and I plan on asking about it.

Also, the standard rate is not available for use on leased vehicles. You are required to use actual expenses. |

Now, your daughter and you should switch the vehicles, and the world will be balanced again.
Or just drive the girly car. Congratulations! |
