lol!!! I know all too well about wheeling with rigs that are unprepared and unmaintained. It is quite frustrating. I ocassionally leave home and forget this or that, but it's only human. Do I carry enough spare parts? Impossible!

FWIW, I do carry a couple of spark plugs (used and re-gapped). If someone rolls, I figure one or two may get oil fouled. It
's easer to pop in a "refurbished" plug than it is to clean one soaked in oil.

hmmm... never thought of that. I've got 2 fresh one's left over from the last change, I guess I'll throw 'em in the parts bag.

I am actually guilty of over-maintaining my vehicles. I have put less than 8000 miles on this TJ since I bought it. Checked the plugs a few months or so ago, looked fine, were originals as far as I can tell; and forgot about it.
I do oil changes, lube etc at 2500 miles- or before intervals.

He bought 12, and broke 4 in the process.

I never forgot that my dad never even got mad when I broke something like 5 out of the 8 spark plugs I begged to be allowed to install in his '62 Oldsmobile Starfire. I was probably 16 at the time. I'll try to remember that when my 14 year-old son does something like that.

reminds me of the young guy asking the old guy how he always made such good decisions.

old guy replies "experience"

young guy asks how he got his experence?

old guy replies "bad decisions"

Changed mine this weekend. 69.8K miles and they looked decent. A little rounded on the electrode tip but color was fine on all of them. The gap was consistant at .045 though. It does appear that the idle is a tad smoother now. For the $17 and 1/2 hour of liesurely garage time-it will be worth it.

I wish I knew for sure, at worst, you'll just own most of a set of plugs for someone's 6 banger. At best, they'll work just fine.
