Thumbs down Dodge folks

Anyone had any problems yet with front axle U-Joints? I have 33,000 miles and my ds one is clicking badly. I guess I'll learn how easy to pull Dodge axles or I might just pay $100 and use the Powertrain warrenty.

Why would it cost you to use the warranty?

Mine has a clunk when I stop, and when I start from a stop. Drives me nuts.

Because I am outside the basic 36,000/3 yr warrenty,(didn't drive far enough the first 3 years) but the U-Joints are still covered under the 70,000/7yr powertrain warrenty. For that you have to pay the first $100.

That's the way I'm probably going to go. The dealer is actually pretty good so it doesn't bother me too much.

My driverside lost the bearings in one cup. I replaced them both with greaseable ones. Wait until your front cv goes out. its not serviceable.

The cv joint is greasable though, so it should hopefully last a little longer

The AAM axles in the 03 and up are definitely lacking in the reliability department. We sell a ton of ujoints and ball joints for these. The unit bearings are a serious PIA to remove, especially in an area known for corrosion.
