7075 J arms

Is this even possible?

I was looking at some arms from a provider that offer solid 7075 Al tapped arms. Could these be had in a J shape for a mid arm type lift? Im thinking the Poly 4 link rear with the three link front, lower 7075 J arms with straight 7075 uppers. JJs all around.

In about a year post Afghanistan vacation.

Not possible for one reason for sure and I'm not even sure you could successfully put the bend in the AL for the J. The biggest reason is you have no way of attaching the barrel for the JJ to the bent end and you never want to side load a threaded shank.

how is side loading different that vertical loading?

I know many manufacturers use Johnny Joints on control arms, and they are vertically loaded all the time, since it's round, vertical becomes side, becomes...

Or am i missing something?

Clearance and length issues aside, the axle JJ would have a shank that's near vertical. Every braking and acceleration event plus climbing and smacking the tire into rocks would be trying to bend the shank.

That force is so intense that Currie had issues keeping the first barrels attached with a normal cope cut. They finally had to offset the cope to get more weld surface area around the barrel.

any drawbacks to 7075 links period? besides expense?

Also mrblaine, do you think the polyperformance 4 link set up seperates the uppers enough for a mid arm suspension to keep the geometry doable on the street?

sorry to cut in on this post.

Thanks for serving our country the freak!

Only personal bias. I don't like adjustability on both ends. Other than that, I'd run them.

Not that familiar. It's to the point now that G and I are considering developing a mid arm kit for folks.
