Maybe the appendix is useful after all

One day I was talking to my cousin who had had his appendix recently removed. He asked me if I had appendicitis. I said, no, and that some people never get it. Sure enough, about a week later I ended up in a hospital to have my appendix cut out.

Anyways, it was long thought the appendix serves no purpose in the human body, but some surgeons and immunologists from Duke University Medical School just published a paper that may change that belief. Take a look at this article:
