Idea's on making new upper arms

My new rear will be done in a couple of days and I am looking at ways to utilize my Re upper long arms. The mounts at the frame/skid need to be cut and turned towards the rear for the triangulation set up. I figure I could use most of the existing arm and just change the pumpkin end to heims where the threaded ends are. The threaded ends are 1" dia. and I believe 14 threads per inch. Just not sure how to make the ends that would screw on and have heims and the ends. Here are some shots.

chris- do you mean something like this?

mcmaster lists these for ~$115 each (heavy duty) PN 60745K73 or ~$70 each for the medium duty PN 60645K73. both are 1" shank, female threaded, 14 threads per inch.

i'm sure someone can get you a better price , but the joints are out there...

Chris I wouldn't bother cutting off the old mounts. Might as well leave well enough alone. Pick up some new johnny joints and make your own arms. Use a tubing notcher and cut the fish mouth at an angle to run the arm towards the center pumking.

You may also just want to make that fish mouth cut not as severe and put a bend in the arm. I guess what I am trying to say is don't cut the mount off, just make an arm fit.

Oh, one more thought, reuse the longest section of the RE arms. Go get some 1.5x0.250 DOM tube. And make a new short end with the angled fish mouth. THe DOM tube when taped fits the 1 inch thread perfectly.

Chris,

If you are triangulating, why don't you do it right, and instead of turning the existing upper RE mount, put some new brackets up as high as possible on your frame and move them rearward about 5-6" or so?

You will be eating up upper bushings if you just leave that pivot point where it is, and the RE bracket/skid/system was not designed for the extreme side loads you are gonna put on it when you triangulate.

Just some thoughts that may save you some trouble later.
