Thumbs up This pic choked me up...

I just saw the below photo on Yahoo and it choked me up. Those guys, heroes all and part of America's Greatest Generation, are not going to be around much longer.

"Wood Derby, 90, participates in Hawaii's Pearl Harbor Commemoration. With an eye on the immediate aftermath of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, thousands of World War II veterans and other observers remembered the 67th anniversary of the devastating Japanese military attack."

That is a great picture Jerry.

Anyone of those guys could be my grandfather. We just celebrated his 90th. He's still full of **** 'n vinagar, but he has never and probably will never speak of pearl harbor.

He was an airframe mechanic responsible for the Pacific PBY fleet.

I would love to hear his stories, but will have to respect (and understand) his unwillingness to discuss.

Excellent pic Jerry. Thanks for sharing.

On my most recent trip to Pearl Harbor, I took time to visit the Punch Bowl again. I took several more pics of sunken memorials while I was in Pearl as the ship I was on was cruising thru the harbor on our way out to sea and back. I also toured areas of Ford Island that are off-limits to the general public and absorbed all the history I could while there. What a true honor it is to stand and walk on the same ground as our nations hero's.
