Cool I'm planning on traveling to...

...SoCal! I need a vacation. I've worked my ass off for a year now without rest, so I've decided to come out to JV and play. Of course, by play I mean mooch a ride in the right seat, stretch winch cable, stack rocks, turn wrenches, fetch parts, etc. My idea of fun!

I'll be there for the first weekend of October. Earlier in the week I'll be in San Francisco on business, and travel south on Wednesday or Thursday for a Friday trip ino the desert. Blaine has graciously agreed to be my tour guide and I hope that several other board members can come out to play.

Anyone wanna meet for lunch, diner, or libations?

If Blaine opens it up to the unwashed masses I'd like to go. "Social Libations" work for me also.

Ya want to ride the right seat with a lunatic? Bring it awn! The Rib Place in Yucca Valley on Sat. night is about as good as food and libations can get.

I can vouch for the Rib Place being great food! Interesting ceiling work in there. The desserts are to die for, just make sure you are still hungry-they are huge. (And worth the misery of the over full belly)

I'm in your guys sandbox; tell me where to eat and I'll be trust you. I'm not a big rib fan, but I can still enjoy a good rack! (of ribs)

Luntaic's right seat? Sure. I don't scare easily. I've been playing off road for well past a decade. I've rolled, flipped, spun, flopped, and been covered in mud. Granted I've never been to JV, but I think I can handle it.

You do have a cage right? I just hope I live to not regret saying this...

Little miscommunication there. It's not closed to anyone that would enjoy some good rockcrawling, good company, good food, and all the dust and heat you can stand.

We will be on the lakebed in JV Friday the 3 of October sometime late afternoon or early evening. If we get Garry there early enough we may do a fast run over one of the close trails. If the early crowd gets too large that may change as the larger the group the slower it travels.

The Rib House is highly recommended in Yucca for Saturday evening's dinner. Jim's buying so come one, come all.

This is not limited to JV capable rigs. Anyone who would enjoy meeting Jim and putting up with the rest of us is welcome.

The trails we are going to run are limited to JV capable rigs, so don't mistake this as an opportunity to have us drag your 33" tired little monster over the trails. Ain't gonna happen.

Don, you don't have any lockers! So dragging is an apt description in your case

Drive on out and join us for dinner, the food is really good and the apple pie is to die for.

PS. I thought that you took quoting lessons from Stu, maybe you need a refresher course!

This quote thing is over my head Millie and I were at JV last week and just missed the flash floods, they came after we headed out from their to big bear and then on the dirt roads in big bear we got hit with a hail storm, then after getting home from big bear the place is now on fire
I hope it is cooler in JV in Oct then it was last week.

I'm buying!?! If I'm buying, then the group size is limited to four...and I'm one of 'em.

BTW, I'll be in San Francisco on Sunday the 28th through Wednesday the 1st. Anyone wanna hook up for some grub after work? I'm not sure where Im staying yet, but there's some convention I have to be at. I may get stuck going out with some of the corporate folks, but I"d like at least one night to meet some people.

Well Jim, it didn't exactly look like folks were signing up to meet you in droves, so I figured a little bribery was in order.

No worries on splitting up into groups of four, the Rib Joint has several tables that hold 4 each. Just let us know how many to reserve.

That's humbling. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I'll have to work a little harder at making friends online. So I'll start by buying friendship.

OK, now who's in?

You've never ridden with Garry.
Bring a good pair of boots...

Yes, it has a cage. Just be sure to get a Teatnus shot before you come out, there are alot of rough edges where the paint has "worn off"...

Jim,
Don't even think of missing a chance to ride with Garry. I've only got to follow him but I can't think of a person I'd rather ride with.
Seriously, reserve that seat before some one else does!

Is he a lunatic? Should you be scared? Does it really matter?

Cool I rode with Garry and survived [wink]

Just make sure he brings his glasses or you just might wind up in a bomb crater before you even get to the trail And be sure to smile and laught a lot like you are having the time of your life! It un-nerves the driver and he makes owl ear faces and asks why you are laughing If he tries to roll the Jeep over with you in it, just act like you do that everyday and grin like crazy.

And always wear your seat belt!

Just so you know, his dog won't even ride in the Jeep with him any more and prefers to walk along behind the Jeep (hint, hint)

I'm still coming. Any rigs left in one piece after this last weekend who plan on wheeling?

I could use a little help with attire. Any idea what the weather will be like this time of year?

Jim, dry-hot days and chilly nights. Don't overlook hydrating yourself with H2O! A small daypack comes in quite handy to carry the important stuff. If you wear contacts-lots of drops. Absolutely bring the most comfortable pair of hiking type boots that you own, the ones with good ankle support! Sunscreen if you are fair skinned. Hat that gives sun protection.
Edit-blue denim long sleeved shirt and jeans(if you want to look like Blaine)

Not only that, but the dog walked far enough to wear the pads off of his paws. Bring good walking shoes.
