Sothern California is on Fire again

Of particular notice we have a Malibu fire in LA:
http://www.fire.lacounty.gov/

And Which Creek and Harris fires in San Diego County:

http://www.sdcountyemergency.com/
http://www.nbc739.com/

Last time it took the fire one night to reach from where it is now, the Santa Ysabel - Ramona area, to where I live in Tierrasanta. I am not evacuating yet, just charging camcorder batteries, and making a list of things to pack.

There appears to be a nasty one on the 241 as well - not sure where but big time smoke over here.

Nice that the $10 per day I pay to go to work doesn't pay for them to do any controlled burns and maintenance of the brush.

The air conditions here have quickly deteriorated. I sealed the house and got the respirators out.

Downtown Ramona is burning.

Once it gets to Poway or to Lakeside (depending on winds), I am starting to load the truck with belongings.

With several more days of Santa Anas... Roll the dice. If the Ramona fire heads down San Pasqual, I'll be packing. There is no good direction for it to turn.

I'm sitting in my living room, probably 40+ miles from the nearest fire and it smells like I'm burning wood in my own fireplace and the flue is closed. P.U. Things may get pretty gnarly if we get some rain this year with the increased runoff and debris flow.

Matt,

They are estimating the fire to enter the San Pasqual valley around 2 in the morning. Fortunately, there is a lot of green there, so they hope that will slow down the fire.

All the firefighting air craft were flying over my house today to refuel at van nuys.

The smoke from malibu was covering most of the sky in the valley.

Pretty nuts.

3:45am now, cant see fire in the valley, but I have NEVER seen winds like this here. Must be gusting over 50MPH.

I just spoke to Matt Pascoe ~30 minutes ago & he was in the process of evacuating his home. He mentioned having a place to go & would touch base later after he gets settled in.

Del Dios was ordered to evacuate, which is where Matt & his family live.

I'm very close to Matt Pascoe and barely on the outside edge of the evac area so I'm staying home today just in case. Looking out the front windows of my house is pretty scary, the sky is a dark reddish brown from the smoke and you can't see a quarter mile. We're somewhat packed but wow, what do you pack in these circumstances. Good luck Matt!

Be Safe Everyone. Call if there is anything we can do.

I don't know exactly where the fires are relative to us, but the visibility here is just about halfway up that line of hills inland of us. Can't clearly see the houses on top.

Don't know if we can do much, but stay safe and our house is always open if someone needs a place to stay.

Good luck everyone. First time I met Jerry was during the last set of fires similar to this, the whole drive down the sky was orange and rather ominous. Hope everything is ok for all of you, and like others have offered, if there's anything I can do or you need a place, just let me know.

I left a message on Sergey's cell phone, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

There's talk about us closing our office today. We'll see.

Just got off the phone with Sergey. He's okay, but obviously concerned. There's no immediate threat, but we all know how fast that can change.

I started to slowly pack things into boxes and bring them downstairs. I don’t need any help right now, thank you. It’s all quiet around here, but the information is lacking. The TV coverage is concentrated on the Rancho Bernardo area; they show a lot of burning houses.

My immediate concern is what is going on in Poway. They did evacuate Pomerado Hospital; but they were saying it was a precautionary measure.

Well we're now hunkered down with the packed & ready to go cars with our tent trailer behind the Grand Cherokee. We were on our way out the door to evacuate an hour ago when we were told we were ok for the time being as the fire is still far enough south of us to not have to leave yet.

There's even a smoky aroma inside our house so between that and the dark smoky sky above it it's got us on our toes. We're lucky to still be here, the last news said that 250,000 have been evacuated here in San Diego county.

Crestline - The California Highway Patrol has closed all mountain roadways, including Highway 18, 330, 138, and 173, to non-residents. Any residents returning to the mountains will be required to show proof-of-residency such as a drivers license, utility bill, or other identifying document. An evacuation center has been established at the Jerry Lewis Center in Highland for all evacuees.

Air command has begun discussing using the DC-10 tanker to make high altitude drops from about 300 feet above the targets.

SD Fire

Matt and Jerry. I live in NW Escondido and have not received the evacuation call and neither have my neighbors. We have the van packed and are ready to put the cats in their cages on a moments notice. Are you going to the Escondido HS Evac center?

Not sure where we'll go at this point Fred. Some in the area are just going to various shopping center parking lots so if we don't head up to Orange County like my first thoughts were, we'll just move into our tent trailer in one of the bigger local parking lots like the North County Fair/Westfield mall parking lot. The news is saying to do that if you have a trailer or an RV. We're pretty self-sufficient for the time being.

Jesus. I hope everyone is okay.

The fire got down near the El Toro Marine Base and burned a lot of North Irvine - that row of Eucalyptus trees along Irvine Blvd/Sandcastle. Pretty scary.

The 241 was closed. The bull**** thing about the OC fire is it was arson - some asshat started something in or around Santiago Canyon per the news.

They need to flay the skin off those bastards with a dull butter knife if they catch them.

Stay safe everyone - let me know if I can help.

Jeff

The fire is getting bad up here. Green valley down to running springs is evacuated and it headed that way. Scott lets us know if you need trailers there to get your stuff out.
