I went rock crawling. I got my butt kicked.

Well not me. My jeep did though. They look small in pics but man they are big in person. There was two sides, modified and hard side. The hard side had rocks the size of tables and the modified rocks that were still way to big. lol.

I broke:
Drivers side d35 shaft
3 ring gear bolts in d35
d35 diff cover got a hole in it. Now have a super bling replacement!
Bent tie rod
Bent drag link
Probably more crap I haven't found yet.

Whole lotta friggin jeeps

Jay on the rocks

Friends TJ

My lame-o flex - 850 on a 23 degree

Poser flex

My totally new non-holy bling diff cover!

My front rock lights

Mike on the rocks. He used to work at 4wd Hardware until he got laid off. He knows way more than a FSM when it comes to YJ's. He basically taught me everything I know about my YJ. Its spring over on stock springs, 36" iroks, d44 rear, 4.88s, 4-1 np231, 4 banger bored .60 over, mopar purple cam, etc etc. With me helping we can change his D30 axle shaft in under 8 minutes.

Some ford thing. Well it was a Ford. Yes its legal in Ohio!!!

Kelly giving the hard side hell

Kick ass yj, 400 sbc, auto, 60s, cage, blah blah

Jeff with his cherokee on 39.5" swampers 'n 60s

Big fawkin cj

Friends TJ on the rocks when he didnt get stuck for half an hour...lol

Me starting on the rocks

Doing mach 5 through the rocks. Just ask anyone who was there. 32 seconds I completed it! :rotflmao:

Back end coming down off the ground after I broke the drivers side shaft.

Looks like you had fun - you are in trouble now if you liked the rocks. Plan on moving out west soon!!!

I'm so lucky to live where I do and be able to play where I play!

Yes they actually are rocks, on a few you can see the drill marks from where they blasted it.

We talked to that guy for about a half hour, he owned 3-4 CJ's. That camera probably costed more than my heep.

Ain't it fun..

Anyway 'dem ain't no stink'n rocks. Just some pebbles someone threw on the ground. If you want some rocks, thrown around on level ground, check out The Graveyard on Miners Revenge

This photo is taken from inside my Jeep, and that's Al in front of me:

I may be a dumb rockcrawler, but I'm smart enough to know not to drive my rig into a mudhole that deep...at least not on purpose. I hope that guy checks his diffs, transmission and engine for contamination.

Driving hot axles/trans/engine into a cold medium, be it water or mud, sets up the possibility of creating a vacuum in those components, and sucking comntamination in past the seals. Seals are designed to keep lubricants in, rather than contamination out. There are double lipped seals out there that are designed for both, but I doubt you'll find them on a stock Rubicon.

Yeah....that Rubicon has an RE 4.5 or 5.5 long arm kit on 35" pro comps.

Story:
My friend got his stock TJ hung up on ruts, the bigger tires that have been run through there rutted it out and got stuck on his diffs. This was in the way to get around him to pull him out. I did the stick test. It showed 6". When he went into it, it literally spun the tires about twice and it went straight down.

When I lived back east where water and that wet dirt stuff known as mud was a part of pretty much every wheeling trip I changed my fluids a whole hell of a lot more then the typical SoCal wheeler. It was just part of the price of admission

Have you ever been on the Rubicon? If so, what did you do when you got to the hole at the bottom of Big Sluice? Or the one before the springs?

Yep been on the 'con several times, twice last year, not going to make it this year . There are times when water/mud is unavoidable. When I have made a water crossing, I check my fluids at the earliest opportunity.

I guess I could have worded that a litlte better...I don't seek out mud holes to dunk my rig in. I don't seek body damage either, but that happens too.
