Smile For those who like Australia or BMW Mini Cooper

I've been meaning to share these pics I took while in Perth, Western Australia a while back, but just haven't gotten around to it.

Taken at the downtown mall in Perth:

Pic of the Destroyer I was "working on" (USS Fletcher). Yep, it was listing badly due to tanks under repair. We were moored in Freemantle, ~25 clicks south of Perth.

This Mini Cooper is my sisters. It's a fun little car to drive!

I'd like to try the Pie Floater. Mmmmmm.... beef mince pie
floating in a bowl of pea soup, with a dollop of tomato sauce on top...

BTW if you have any plans, no matter how vague, of visiting between now and July next year, let me know. My employer needs me to submit annual leave requirements between July '04-Jun '05 by next week.

My kickaround car while in Delft:

Fun little car. I hope the S adds much needed oomf to the Cooper, the base model is a slug,,, but it sticks to the ground like it's on rails.

Sounds fine to me.

How long would you envisage being here?

If I took 3 weeks leave starting Monday April 18 would that suit. By all means make your holiday as long as you can, it's just that I won't be able to play tour guide for any longer than 3 weeks.

Like I offered at JV, you can crash at my place for as long as you want, we could go off road-tipping/adventuring/wheeling/touring/camping. Or if you want to be fully independant that's cool. Whatever, it's up to you, just let me know and I'll try my best to help you out.

Matt,

3 weeks starting April 18th, 2005 would be perfect.

It may end up a little less for me, depending on what kind of plane tickets I'll get. But, I'll be shooting for up to 3 weeks.

It's going to be fun! Anybody else want to go?

Depending on some things I might be able to get you there cheaply Sergey. Won't know more until after training.

No doubt, it rained every day of my two weeks there. Well, except for about a day when I spent the weekend in Antwerp. Was headed to Paris but had too much fun on Friday night and decided to stay the weekend.
Even got to play a part in a street show.

(edit: No those aren't my clothes, they made me wear the getup )

Too much fun. Too much Qwak too.

Saw a few of these too, dunno what they are though:

Well I could do that "independent" thing Matt mentions and stalk Heath Ledger, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Mel Gibson. Remember by that time I'll be at goal weight and looking fffffiiiiiiinnnneeeee.

Or I could just go into town and listen to the hot guys talk. MMMMMMMMMMM... aussie accent.

It is time to start implementing the trip to Australia plans. I will be posting the exact dates soon.

Do we have anybody besides me from the US who would like to go on this trip?

I can't really afford a trip like this... but sergey... maybe you could pack up my exotic yellow shocks and give them a proper burial in their native land.

say hi to the Rudds for me.

Joe, cool pics! How did you like Australia? I've been to Brisbane Australia. I had a long layover there, so I went exploring. IE drinking some beer in the city.

If you ever get the chance, go to New Zealand. It's AWESOME. My dad likes the Mini Cooper. He said the old ones could do some awesome 360's when starting out. I'm not sure how, but his buddy had one and he said it was fun.
