Thumbs up Robert's pic in JP

I was sidetracked at the market and thumbed through this month's JP mag and low and behold, there's a pic on the inside cover from Robert! I don't know if I can remotely post it so here is a link:

http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/4018aeab...7YSaABOcfVXLdF

Let me know if you can view the pic from this link. I'm not sure if the SBC space likes to share.

Cool

Right on! Hopefully someone will see this & contact his Dad, that would be awesome!

I would also hope that there's some sort of reunion organization that his Dad could contact so he gets back in touch with his old buddies. I'll ask my Dad if he knows of a means to do so. Maybe Veterans Affairs or something.

Robert, I spoke with my Dad & he mentioned trying the VFW or American Legion. Looks like this will take some legwork, but it's a start. HTH

Thanx Joe,
Funny thing is, I haven't recieved my magazine yet nor can I find one in any of the stores around my house so I have no idea what they printed.

EDIT: Shoulda clicked the link before I posted My dad will be pretty happy about it. Joe, my dad does do the re-union thing but there are a few folks they haven't heard from. There are not to many of those old boys left so if anyone does get in touch with me, it ought to be pretty cool. Thanx all.

Thanx again. My dad is the guy sitting in the Jeep. He joined up at 17 by faking his age. He has this trunk of stuff that he took off nazi POW's - lugers, belt knives, boot knives, a belt buckle gun that shoots 2 shells, flags ect.

If anyone in So Cal happens to be fluent in German, that would be helpful to me too - he has a diary of Hitler that some german soldier was keeping which includes pictures he took while attending rallys, personal thoughts and newspaper clippings. I have no idea what it says.

Robert,

Amongst other languages, my older brother is fluent in German. If you want to xerorx some stuff and send it to me I'll have him translate. As for me, Ich spreche ein bischen Deutsch! Ha Ha.

Jeff,
if your brother wouldn't mind, that would be way cool. Even as a kid, I've always wondered what it said. Most likely, the whole enchilada will be donated to a museum at some point.

My brother is a near expert in german war uniform materail, guns, knives, etc. He has books and more books on specific uniforms. As for the diary, I think I know a place that could get it translated.

using that translator would be quite a job - other than the newspaper clippings, its all handwriting.

Thats awesome! I'd love to make it in a magazine someday. You and your Dad should be very proud, if not I will for you.

Hello Robert,

recognized your name when I got JP last Saturday. If you're going to the 4AJUMR in Moab in April and you take the diary (or copy) with you I'll gladly assist you in translating it.

Hey Thanx Ron,
unfortunately though, no Moab for me. I'm really hoping to go next year but my problem is that I have to set aside my skiing habit in order to afford a Moab trip. Can't afford to do both either in time off or cash. I do appreciate the offer to translate though
