It's not just a "Robert gets a new car" thread. It's also, "Robert wants a new car", "Robert thinks about the new car", "Robert gets the new car". And we hope to follow the story through the paces all the way into, "Robert gets rid of the car"

Geez, can't a guy shove a little drama onto his friends once in awhile?

I could also start a tow rig for sale thread if you all haven't had enough yet. That Suburban should be good for 4 or 5 pages of discussion too

Actually, William didn't want to have the issues that happened post Rubicon 02 with some shocks that he almost never got a chance to repay the original owner for (and you know how William is about paying debts.. he doesn't sleep well when he owes money), and all the stuff that transpired afterwords... So you can say it's all about helping a friend.. but sometimes the price implied is way to high.

And now we know why William hasnt' taken it to your drive way yet... He's saving up happy meal coupons!

Your surban shows your level of patience. I would have lit that thing on fire by the side of the road by now.

I mean, there's new sups, new elect, new engine.. not much left to replace..

Of course, it is red, and has square headlights.

Ok OK, I give up! I generally don't like to stir up hornets nests, I usually get stung over and over. I guess I gave everyone something to write about though! Enough with crashes and bumpers and... time to move on.

Well, I guess you need to send me a bill for picking up that top for me. Let me know how much cash I owe you.

No cash.. you know better than that. I'd delete the post, but the 30 minute rule has taken affect, or is it effect.. well, anyway, no harm meant, I was trying to put a jab back in your side.

I've been too busy to get away from work, the house, etc with the upcoming deployment to make it over.

So I apologize if the post hurt your feelings, don't take it like that.

William,

Where are you being deployed and for how long? On a ship or a base? Good luck and keep your head down!

I'm at a command staff that is bringing the USS Ronald Reagan around South America to San Diego. Nothing all that scary.. except for the transit around the horn. It'll take about 3 months. No big deal, but it is time away from the family. I've got to finish the back yard (looks like afghanistan) before I go or I may be sleeping on the porch..

That is cool! Have a safe journey. Will this be your first crossing of the equator? Are you going to get hazed and pinned or is that only a thing for the Marines? My friend has told me of some pretty amazing abuse first-timers take, be it enlisted or officer.

I've been following the construction of the ship on the web.

First time across the equator, but the Navy has had it with hazing, the ceremony will be.. different from the one they talked about.

I'm pretty stoked on the maiden voyage, and to see South America.

Speaking of South America and movies, I saw this movie last night called "Touching the Void", which is a true story about a couple of mountain climbers who took on the western face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in '85.

It was damn good.

That reminds me of movie about a soccer team that crashed in the Andes. Based on a true story. What was the name, I can't remember?

50 ways to cook your lover?

High altitude cooking for the entree impaired?

[Insert] buddies name [/insert]- the other white meat

Can't recall exactly, do any of those ring a bell?

No Robert, however one of the climbers had the last name of Yates, so I guess you could say it was metaphorical?!
