The Official JeepBBS 2005 Rookie Run Thread!

I know everyones scrambling to get their rigs ready, but lets get some dates set! Nothing like a deadline to expedite production

How about we OFFICIALLY set the date to:

October 8th?

October 15th?

or

October 29th?

This rookie is ready to go (almost ) But if I don't get the time off scheaduled soon it will be hard to make it.

So who's in, and when???

My vote is for the 29th so as to give Blaine as much time as possible to get his fabrication wrapped up. Frankly, I am not interested in going at all unless Blaine is ready - the rookie run is his baby.

ABSOLUTELY!!

Last season Blaine mentioned to me that he would appreciate help coordinating the dates, so hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes...

I'm just itching to get out there!

That's a good idea - you'll have the spotter close by that way

I vote for later rather than sooner, I still have stuff to do as well.

You could read it that way, wouldn't be correct, but you could. More accurately would be that Kat and myself have been working on the rig every day. Not every 2nd or 3rd day, but every day and at this point, it's about 65 percent done.

I can do no more no faster and I won't be making any runs in OCT at this point.

The shotgun offer is appreciated, but when is the last time you saw me wheel without Kat?

Blaine, I can come down there as well to give you an extra hand. I want to see that Jeep on the trail!

Regarding the Rookie run, I would like to join you guys, whenever this does end up happening. I would be the one of the "Rookies" on this run. The only issue I can see would be that I have 33's. I am locked at both ends and have a a 4" lift and body protection.

Not to mention that time out there just puts you that many more days further behind.

I REALLY wish I was there to help.

I REALLY like the way your Jeep is coming together.

You shouldn't have edited your original post Brian - now it comes off as a cheap shot.

If you want a more accurate translation it would be that you folks can go wheeling all you want out there with no problem - it just ain't going to be an Official JeepBBS Rookie Run or season opener without Blaine and Kathryn.

I'm hoping for a miracle that I'll be able to make this run. My Jeep is as ready as it's gonna get, it's all up to my wife.

As probably one of the few on this board who has wheeled out there on 33's, I'll say that you can do it but you better have an open mind about things when you are done

If you have your rig dialed in gearing wise on those 33's (ie have an auto and if manual, not a stock t-case), good steering, good articulation, some extra clearance work and can drive smoothly, you can get through those trails. You will exact a toll on your rig though. I went through a bunch of steering componants, front driveshafts and some body damage in the 2 times I ran Sunbonnet on 33's. But then I also walked through Aftershock and Clawhammer twice without a scratch.

Your call

Supe-

I would HIGHLY recommend riding along the first time. Even Chris' Jeep isnt ready for JV.

Well it's been a long time since Johnson Valley but I've managed to wheel a couple times this year. She has just gotten tired of all my overnight offroad trips (some were for Boy Scouts too) where she is stuck home alone all weekend... and her camping out without a real toilet and shower nearby is out. An extra effort on my part to make this particular run is certainly warranted!

not meant as one, hope it wasn't taken that way.

I'd like to see everyone get done and wheel together.

If help from others expidites Blaine's project, I believe it is in all of our best interest.

The deadline sure seemed realistic back in june/july didn't it?

I'm behind as well. Custom parts, funds, the day job...The later the better at this point. I don't want to take shortcuts and leave projects mostly completed and good enough until I have more time.

You think she'd be happy to have your dumb a$$ outta the house!!!

PS - I have some great campfire stories about working with people from Queens/Long Island City in New York and how they take years off your life...

Jerry, a solution to your troubles......

my wife loves to go anywhere now

I'd like to go on the rookie run and help, but I'm moving in the month of October so it would be at least November before I can go.
